"I agree." Jax powered off the phone and clutched it in his hand. "So, what do we do? I can smash it, and we run again. Or we take a huge risk that Isach or someone else did leave this here for us."

My heart raced, and my stomach knotted. No matter what choice we made, we were taking a risk. If we smashed the phone and one of our friends or family had left it for us, we'd have no way to stay in touch and get updates. But if they hadn't left the phone, if one of the guards had planted that phone, then we were in immediate danger and needed to get the hell out of here as fast as possible.

Then, another thought struck me. "Call the number," I said.

"What?" His tone was incredulous.

"The number that sent the message. Call it." I nodded at the phone in his hand. "That's the only way we're going to know who we're dealing with."

"And what happens if it turns out to be the guard?"
