Draven Coven Castle
The journey back to the castle was silent. Somber. Terrifying. I expected Jax to talk, but he was completely stoic, face blank. He barely glanced in my direction, which did nothing to calm my already heightened nerves. My sisters didn't even speak all that much, and when Gregory spoke, it was to his guards and no one else.
We stopped about a mile outside the castle walls. Gregory nodded at one of his guards, who took off ahead of us. No doubt to alert the king that we were close. My stomach twisted.
"Are we ready for this?" Gregory asked. "If not, now's the time to turn back."
Jax shook his head. "I'm ready for this to be over."
"Me too," I said, moving closer to him and resting my hand on his arm. I frowned at the cuffs circling his wrists, wishing he didn't have to wear them. But if this was going to work, we needed to sell the story.
