Souline's pov:
"Did you call an Uber?" Giana asked Gio. "No, I'll call one now," Gio said, reaching into his pocket for his phone. He had just started to pull it out when Vex stepped in, placing a firm hand on his arm. "That won't be necessary," Vex said, his voice calm but unwavering. "Kai told me to drop you off. Just tell me the hotel."
Gio's eyes narrowed slightly. "Hotel Barocarro." Vex gave a nod. "I'll get the car ready." He opened the door and stepped outside. As soon as Vex was out of earshot, Gio turned to Giana, his face tight with worry. "I don't want him driving us. What if Kai ordered him to kill us and dump our bodies somewhere? The fucking forest?" His voice wavered between paranoia and genuine fear.
