Chapter 366: The Storm Altar (Part 2)

As always, Gul'dan believed in the potential for success, but he couldn't be entirely sure.

However, as a wicked warlock with an insatiable curiosity, there was nothing he wouldn't sacrifice. Besides, Gul'dan was entirely confident that if he failed, he would survive unscathed.

"Begin!"

He nodded at Cho'gall, who started shouting at the gathered ogres.

They were recruiting guinea pigs.

After a bout of pushing and shoving (actually brawling), and grumbling and cursing, the weakest ogre stepped forward.

Of course, even the weakest ogre among his kind still weighed several times more than a human and stood twice as tall.

Cho'gall barked orders at the ogre, who bravely stepped into the open space between the stones.

He stood in the center of the pentagram and waited, motionless.

One advantage of ogres is that they will stand still when asked. Unless given another command or in search of food, an ogre can stand for hours, as still as a marble statue.

Gul'dan often thought these creatures evolved from stone. This could explain their thick skin, resistant to blades, and their frustratingly low intelligence.

If Gul'dan ordered them to "move forward," they would spend a few seconds pondering the meaning of life, perhaps reminiscing about the delicious humans they ate the night before, drooling a bit, then move in any direction, taking out anything they didn't like along the way, sometimes even including their own kind or theoretical masters.

Given a choice, Gul'dan would never command these idiots without Cho'gall.

With Cho'gall present, at least these fools would move in the right direction, and there was no need to worry about friendly fire. Of course, their efficiency was still a mystery. Sometimes they could be stabbed in the thigh while contemplating life.

Only when the two-headed ogres were present would their combat efficiency reach an acceptable level.

Gul'dan's thoughts returned to the task at hand. He raised his arm, resonating with the dark energy given to him by Kil'jaeden, the deputy leader of the Burning Legion, back in Draenor.

Evil power tore through the plane, crossing space, pouring into Gul'dan. As a conduit, he immediately divided it into five parts, transmitting it to the soul crystals on the chests of the five warlocks, and finally infusing it into the rune stones they faced.

The stench of decay and corruption began to erode the natural arcane power.

This was not without cost.

The essence of nature instinctively resisted the corruption and invasion. A dazzling light burst from deep within the earth, directly transmitted to the rune stones. The visible energy fiercely retaliated against the five warlocks trying to contaminate the rune stones.

The counterattack was so violent that the skull on the staff of the warlock standing to the south cracked. The foul smell of death leaked out, and within half a second, the power of the earth seemed to find a vent, abruptly attacking the warlock.

"Ugh—" The weakest are always the first to suffer.

The power of nature surged into him, and you could see that every pore on his arms sprouted unknown plants similar to small grass buds.

"Waste!" Gul'dan spat.

Without his reminder, Cho'gall dragged away the doomed warlock and took his place.

Three seconds later, Gul'dan had to do the same thing as the two-headed ogre mage.

The feeling of having to personally step in was displeasing to Gul'dan.

Fortunately, the remaining three were clearly a cut above the two dead ones. Now,

the five mages each chose a stone in front of them and infused it with dark energy.

When all the runes on the five rune stones were filled with black light and vibrated, Gul'dan concentrated and recited a short spell.

Each note in the wicked spell contained a forbidden bloody taste, which made Orgrim, who was watching from the side, uncomfortable. The Warchief frowned, but he had no choice. Shamans were not good at breaking enemy magic defenses, and the only powerful shaman under his command, Zuluhed, was clearly more than two levels weaker than Gul'dan.

More dark energy flowed along Gul'dan's wrinkled skin, from his crimson fingertips into his rune stone.

But this time, the energy was not simply infused.

The overflowing demonic breath turned into a black comet, quickly passing through the stone at the far end to his left, then jumping to the nearest one on his right. The demonic power did not stop, it continued to jump to the near end on his left, then to the far end on his right, and finally returned to the stone in front of him.

A glowing pentagram connected all five stones, and the black comet passed over the quickly blackened, lifeless land, revealing countless complex runes.

The next moment, the sky above the entire altar suddenly darkened, and the huge energy corroded by darkness suddenly rushed up a kilometer high, then exploded in the high sky.

A strange storm formed in the sky, a fusion of a white light clockwise tornado and a black light counterclockwise tornado. This storm connected straight from the ground to several kilometers in the sky, visible even a hundred miles away.

This terrifying storm alarmed the entire region, all the high elves fighting the trolls.

The ogre in the pentagram still stood like a statue, stiffly standing there, although Gul'dan had already seen clear fear in the creature's eyes.

Unfortunately, he was facing Cho'gall.

A natural two-headed ogre, the absolute ruler among ogres.

Even if he was terrified, even if Cho'gall wanted him to die, he had to obey.

"Good, Cho'gall chose a decent creature." Gul'dan grinned maliciously.

The power of the earth resonated with the sky.

The power on the rune stones, in the end, was guided by Gul'dan to the center of them - the ogre standing there, who was not shaking visibly, but was internally shaken.

A black light ring enveloped him.

It started as one ring, then became countless rings.

The black energy seemed tangible, pouring onto the ogre, more and more, eventually forming a huge black sphere. The entire ogre was swallowed by this opaque dark giant ball.

Immeasurable dark energy turned into a black storm, drilling into the ogre's body from every pore, every hole.

"Ah ah ah ah—" The ogre finally couldn't help but scream.

A moment later, the screams doubled, as both heads began to scream simultaneously.
