His side of the story
"Why the fuck did you do that?" Allen scolded Kyle, his tone low, almost like a deadly whisper.
"I saw the chance and took it. I wanted to meet her, and I knew you wouldn't have the balls to introduce us." They walked out of the building, the bright light blinding them temporarily.
"And I wanted to keep it that way," he hissed.
"I know. That's why I did it myself," he grinned. "What surprises me is that you admitted you stalked her." Allen opened his mouth, but a furious female voice made him stop in his tracks.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" They looked to the side, finding a very pissed off Cassidy. She said those words like spitting venom out of her mouth, right before dashing into the crowd and making her way to her friend.
Allen's eyes followed where she was going, noticing the red head ahead, surrounded by nosy people, trying to free herself from a not-so tall dirty blonde guy. He couldn't get a hold of what he was saying, but she was visibly annoyed by it. His eyes grew darker, a strange feeling grasping the surface of his consciousness.
Who. The. Fuck. Is. That. His inner voice roared.
"So the admirer was her ex, after all." Kyle said, shrugging. Allen looked at him, waiting for him to elaborate. "She's been receiving texts and calls for a few days now. She didn't know who it was." It's rare when Allen loses his temper, even though he is pretty straightforward and usually acts rashly, he never loses it. Allen nodded and started walking towards the crowd.
Those near the edge, after noticing he was there, opened space for him to go through. No one really messed with him because, even though it was rare to see him pick up a fight or anything of the sort, he was scary as fuck. He reached the other end quite easily.
"Sorry, did I make you wait?" Isabelle turned her head sharply, looking at him with wide eyes, not certain about what he was talking about or why he was there. "Mr. Domínguez made me stay to talk about my next essay."
"That's—"
"Who the fuck are you?" The male voice interrupted her, gaining Allen's full attention.
"I should be the one asking that question, given the fact that you're the one out of place here." His words were polite and educated, opposite to his usual foul-mouthed spirit.
His blue eyes, almost void of that light blue and more grayish, stared at the guy cold and slightly annoyed.
That made Sean unconsciously feel he had made a mistake by going there.
"She's my girlfr—" Sean could not finish the sentence when Isabelle's voice rose.
"EX girlfriend." She corrected, putting emphasis on the word. Sean clicked his tongue, looking at Isabelle, clearly unpleased by her answer.
Allen noticed his hostility, making him clench his jaw unconsciously.
"I haven't said anything about that yet," he said in a cocky voice. "So? Who are you?" Sean insisted, arrogance rolling out his mouth.
"Oh, so that's the ex-boyfriend you told me about?" he asked Isabelle, completely ignoring his question again. He cut the distance between them and stood right beside her.
She nodded, remembering she did tell him about his true intentions to date her; a sudden feeling of embarrassment punching her belly. Sean's patience started to run out. He was never treated like that before, especially not by people around his age.
"Are you fucking deaf?" he yelled, dragging Allen's attention his way. Those icy blue eyes looked at him up and down, lifting his chin to show his now obvious disgust.
He averted his eyes again to fix them on Isabelle's. "I have to say your taste in men improved handsomely."
"WHAT?!" Sean's face turned red, rage pouring from his now bloodshot eyes. He stepped forward, but a couple of his friends stopped him. They were probably blending among the sea of people surrounding them. "Who the fuck you think you are, huh?!" His clenched teeth made the words come out in a weird hiss.
Isabelle swallowed. She had never seen him that angry before. He always acted confident and respectful towards her, even sweet. Maybe that was all an act to sleep with me. The thought crossed her mind, making her feel grossed by the fact she had any feelings for him at all in the past.
Again, he was ignored.
With his right hand, Allen caressed her cheek, putting a lock of hair behind her ear. She darted her eyes to meet Allen's. W—What's going on?, she thought. His actions left her speechless, looking at him with uncertainty, as she was not sure what he was thinking about approaching her like that. He caressed her chin and jaw line with the back of his fingers, rolling down near her neck. With his hand palm up, he grabbed her below her jaw from both sides softly, but firmly.
"Play along." He whispered to her ear, his breath tickling the base of her neck, sending shivers down her spine.
He pushed away from her ear, not giving her enough time to react. He put some pressure on his grip, forcing her face upwards, as he pressed his lips to hers. They felt soft and warm, knotting her stomach as she started to feel extremely self-conscious. Everyone around them gasped, heightening her nervousness. Her heart started pounding hard inside her chest as she started to freak out. It was his thumb that stroked her cheek, that brought her back to reality. That's right, she thought, this is all an act. He's helping you out. Don't panic. She closed her eyes as she leaned towards him, kissing him back.
She was not sure about why he bothered about helping her, but she surely was grateful. Sean had been incredibly pushy since he approached her, and the fact that he had been trying to reach out to her out of nowhere made her feel even more unsettled by this whole situation. Having Allen by her side made her feel unexpectedly safe.
As for Allen, he took the chance to steal the kiss he wanted so badly since the day he took her to the mall. He didn't care if the entire school was there, he never cared about others' opinions, so this was no exception. When she suddenly kissed him back, it only made him crave for just one more second against her lips. Who am I kidding? That would never be enough, he thought, damning himself for his weakness. His cowardice for waiting for an excuse like this one to do what he truly wanted.
They parted a couple of seconds later, his eyes looking greedily at her rosy lips. I need to stop, now. He raised his gaze to lock it with hers, and without breaking eye contact and with his hand still grabbing her face, he tilted his head to one side, grinning.
"Are you telling him, or should I?" He asked.
Isabelle opened her mouth just to close it again. Allen released his grip, passing his arm over her shoulders, bringing her closer to him. As a reflex, she wrapped her arms around his waist, making his grin even bigger. His cool eyes landed on Sean's, clearly enjoying humiliating him.
"What does it look like, ex?" he said confidently, remaking the last word.
At first, Sean looked confused. He couldn't believe she had gotten over him that fast. Something broke inside of him, followed by a mad laugh. "So much for being all naive and shy around me. You ended up being just like any other slut." he spit out.
Allen's hands turned into fists, his body stiffening under her arms. He was about to beat the crap out of him when she spoke up.
"I never thought you could be this pathetic," her words slapped him across the face. "All this show just because you're sore at the fact that you couldn't sleep with me?"
Isabelle was a very quiet girl, never stood out or wanted to be the center of attention, reason why everyone was so stunned to hear her speak up like that. Sean smiled mockingly at her.
"What?" he scoffed. "You've already opened up your legs for him?" She felt her blood boil for a second. Isabelle let her breath out slowly, narrowing her eyes.
"Yeah, and you know what? I'm glad I did," she hugged Allen tighter, trying to stop her arms from shaking. "Because under all your confident facade, I'm sure you actually know shit about pleasing someone other than yourself."
Allen chocked a laugh, trying to maintain his composure, as Isabelle started moving out of the circle of people, dragging him with her. Sean was speechless, thinking about a way to counter what she said, too nervous to talk after hearing a couple of laughs around him. Allen walked with her a couple of steps, but stopped abruptly. He turned around and walked towards Sean.
"I'll break your fucking nose," he said with a restrained tone, closing the distance between them. Sean shrugged it off with a laugh, not taking his warning seriously. Huge mistake.
Allen punched his face with a pretty fast and strong swing, making Sean stumbled and fall, landing on the floor and reaching a hand towards his cheek and nose. He felt a sharp pain in his face, a warm liquid running down his fingers from his nose. Sean's friends moved to defend him, but Kyle appeared in front of them with a murderous look in his eyes.
Allen crunched down in front of him, grabbing him by the collar of his sweater. His grip was so strong, the sweater started making pressure on Sean's throat; choking him slightly. The air felt heavy all of a sudden, Allen's glacial stare landing on the guy's dark green eyes. He pulled Sean closer, having him a few inches away from his face.
"I don't want to see you lurking around my girl, nor anywhere she could possibly be. If I ever see you again near her, I'll make you regret it." Allen threatened, menacingly, letting the words sink one by one into his brain. "And next time you run your mouth on her like that, a broken nose will be the least of your problems." With that, he shoved him to the ground again, standing up and tidying his clothes.
He approached Isabelle's side and grabbed her hand, leading her to his truck, and drove away.
