"So the rumors are true?" asked the muscular man in a somber voice.
Suddenly, Zack stopped on the step he took back to move and listened to the conversation. He was so busy cultivating that he didn't know something like this had happened. The way they were talking about it was mysterious and full of enchantment for Zack. He was a hardcore fantasy novel reader; he always loved and looked for this kind of thing in novels when he used to read.
"Yeah, it seems the rumors are true," replied the first man in a somber tone.
"I don't care if it is true or not. It is known to all of us. But I'm more afraid of the unusual way monsters are behaving," the boss of the inn said with mixed emotion.
Suddenly, the inn became silent, and they looked at each other with anxious and dreadful expressions on their faces.
The shabby-looking man, who loved to be noticed, could not take it. "What about it? What is the use of talking about the Beast Tide and being afraid? It is not like it never happened before, and we old bones always survived."
"Isn't it true?" he asked, trying to cheer everyone up.
"I heard that there are no monsters on the border of the mountain range," One of the men said
"Yes, there are no monsters there, as if they never existed."
One of the men in the group of four who had been drinking silently the whole time with his party responded to the question before gulping down the beer. He seemed to look like a hunter with the clothing he was wearing.
Everyone gasped, and excitement could be seen on their faces.
"Then it is a good thing, right? We don't have to be afraid and live in fear of monsters!" Exclaimed someone.
"I'm afraid not. The monsters had gone; they had disappeared. It is, in fact, true, and it is a good thing."
Karl took another mouthful of beer and said with a grim voice, "But they are not dead; they are still there in the dark, and we don't have much information about them this time."
The boss of the inn asked Karl, who was a hunter, "So what do you suggest, Karl? You have much experience when a time like this comes."
Karl shook his head and said, "I don't know. This is the first time it has happened in the history of Greenleaf Town. I heard a special team has been sent from the capital to investigate this abnormal situation."
"Either they come and be done with it, or they just don't come. Why is this taking them so long? Ah! It is this time of the year that I don't earn much." Boss of the inn said dejectedly.
"Boss, you only care about money."
"It is still better than you, who spend time in the Moon Garden. I wonder how your wife is going to beat you up when she finds out."
The boss grinned, making the man stiff on the spot.
Everyone laughed, and the inn became as lively as before.
When Zack saw that he couldn't gather any more information, he used Shadow Shift and made his way back home.
Standing before his house, he lifted his head and looked at the dark night with shining stars; even though it was not as dark as he heard from people in the inn, it was still darker today.
"I'm already able to hide from people, and monsters are not there."
Zack looked at the house and then to the side at the mountain range, saying, "So, why should I not go out and do some sightseeing? It is already boring to sit in the house every day.'
Zack thought and moved his body, using a shadow shift, to the mountain range.
He went to the cliff and the ground in caves, using shadow shift, admiring the beautiful and mesmerizing view before him. It was his first time exploring a little part of this new world, and he started to like it.
Without knowing it, Zack had moved to the inner area of the mountain range when he heard some voices ahead.
He stopped in his tracks and cautiously listened to the distant voice, which seemed familiar to him.
"Lord Sebrus, We have already lured the monster from the outer area and cleared it out." The man's voice paused, and there was hesitation in his voice. "However, because of our interference, there won't be any beast tides, and the people in the town seem alarmed. I heard someone report this in the capital to the king, and a new special team is on its way to investigate."
"Hmph! Instead of thanking us, they are making things difficult for us.
Lord Sebrus, who was the hooded man Zack and company saw before, snorted, "Don't worry about them; if we catch the little wolf, it is all worth it."
"Lord Sebrus, is it really only a grandmaster-level wolf?"
Satris, who seems a little nervous about his own life, could not help but ask about it.
Lord Sebrus just gave Satris a stern gaze, making him shut up.
At least a hundred men were standing around them, Beside Satris and Lord Sebrus. They were wearing similar back clothes as Lord Sebrus, but they were not hiding their faces with hoods.
The group moved cautiously to the inner, and whenever they spotted any monsters, which were either minions or master-level only, they killed them and stored their bodies in their storage ring.
Zack followed the group from behind slowly, keeping enough distance between them.
Lord Sebrus raised his hand, and the group behind them stopped.
There was a big cave, before the Lord Sebrus and group, a few hundred meters away, that had an entrance large enough for a bus to go through easily. A wolf was lying there whose height was equal to that of a healthy man, 6 feet tall.
"There it is, remembered; we have to kill fast and bring its body back."
Lord Sebrus moved like lightning and attacked with a fire spell, making a fireball equal to his hand as he gave the order to the group behind him.
Following the order, the group rushed as well and attacked with a different spell; some used fire, and some used ice.
The wolf, which was lying peacefully, got interrupted from his sleep when he heard the footsteps of people. Looking at the people who come to attack him, he howls and retaliates.
Using the power of the wind, the wolf slowed the attacks or threw them back to the group.
Zack looked at the fight, which was astonishing for him; even in his previous life, no visual effects could create this stunning scene before him. Zack kept a safe distance from the group and watched the fight like a movie in the cinema. He was just missing some popcorn.
The wolf was powerful and had killed dozens of people; using wind power and with the strong body on top of it, the wolf was not much wounded. Nevertheless, he was a single entity, and against hundreds of people, he was getting badly wounded as the fight dragged on.
"Damn, just die already," said the lord as he made the fire-like sword and stabbed it in the chest of the wolf.
The wolf howled painfully, which echoed in the surroundings further away, before falling to the ground after a little struggle.
Zack got the feeling that something bad was really going to happen, so he started to move back. However, before he could travel a distance enough to feel safe, a towering pressure descended, making every single individual freeze their step.
Zack turned his head to look but fell on his bum when he did. He wished that he had not turned his head and looked back.
