Chapter 27

~Jayden~

I quickly took care of the pack business and headed to the restaurant where I’m supposed to meet Stella. Stella and I would frequent this restaurant, especially after school. We would get a corner booth and talk for hours. I used to think that our connection was what made those times so special and deep. Now I wonder if it was just because Stella had nothing else to do that she hung out with me, or maybe she was avoiding responsibilities. As I think more about her and our past, I realize there is a lot about Stella that I thought I knew but now seems false.

I pull into the parking lot and get out of the car. I take a look around, but I don’t see Stella. I walk inside and up to the host podium. “Ah, Mr. Winters. How are you today?”

“I’m good, Lana. How is the family…..how are the kids?”

“Everyone is good. I haven’t seen you in a while. I do miss your little lady, Brooklyn.”
