Lingering fear

Cindy stood frozen in the middle of the room, her heart pounding so hard she could hear it echoing in her ears. The man had just left, but the oppressive weight of his presence still lingered, filling the space with an eerie silence. It almost felt as if he hadn't been there at all—as if the entire encounter had been some kind of twisted hallucination.

But then her eyes fell on the floor, and she saw it: a small, dark puddle of water. The drops glistened under the faint light that had just returned, proof that what she had experienced wasn't a figment of her imagination. The man had been here, standing in this very room, speaking to her, threatening her. A cold shiver ran down her spine.
