Nami is Sick? Beyond the Snow that Falls on the Ocean!

By this time, night had fallen, and almost everyone was sleeping in the same room as Nami. The only people on guard were Sanji, Gem, and Yosaku. The crew had already dropped anchor for the night, as Luffy didn't want to risk navigating the sea at night without Nami.

Even though he himself does navigation, Luffy is not as good as Nami. Nami seems to have a sixth sense when it comes to predicting the weather and small changes in the wind. As for Luffy, he was currently lying on his beach chair made out of his cloud, sleeping peacefully.

After Vivi had told him about the Drum Kingdom, he now felt a bit more at ease, knowing that he could save his navigator. Luffy had yet to inform the rest of the crew of their next move; he waited until the morning to let them know.

[Timeskip: Next Day]

Luffy was awakened from his sleep by the sound of someone hitting something coming from outside. He staggered to a sitting position and then rubbed his eyes before looking out the window, seeing that the sun had not come out yet.

"Who's up this early?" he asked himself. Then he put his foot on the cloud, and the cloud started to lift off the floor. When the cloud was high enough off the floor, Luffy ordered the cloud to float towards the door. Luffy didn't want to walk towards the door because he didn't want to wake anyone else and he felt a bit lazy.

When the cloud reached the door, Luffy reached out his hand and silently opened the door before he and the cloud made their way out. As they floated onto deck, he felt the cool morning air of the winter climate.

He immediately shivered and, for the first time, placed his hand on the sleeve of his captain's coat before buttoning it up and down.

"Who's the jerk that lowered his temperature?" he thought. He then heard someone hammering once again from his right, causing him to turn his head there.

When he turned his head, he saw Usopp with a nail in his mouth and a hammer in his hand, repairing the ship that Wapol had eaten.

"You're up early," said Luffy as he climbed down from his cloud and stretched his muscles.

"I can't just sit around and do nothing," Usopp replied as he nailed a piece of wood to the side of the ship. "We have to find a way out of this as soon as possible, captain," he added, causing Luffy to nod.

"We've figured out a plan for the future. As soon as everyone wakes up, Vivi and I will explain to you all," he said, causing Usopp to cheer up a bit.

Luffy then heard movement from his left, causing him to turn around to see who or what it was. When he turned his head, he saw Yosaku and Gem walking towards him, looking very tired. Luffy then looked right up and saw Sanji coming down from the watchtower wearing a poncho.

"Morning captain," said Yosaku while standing next to Luffy.

"You three look tired," said Luffy while looking at them. "I'm awake now, so you three can rest a bit before we depart," Luffy said, causing the three of them to look at him with grateful expressions on their faces.

"Would you like me to make something for you, captain?" Sanji asked while Gem and Yosaku headed inside to sleep.

"No, there's no need," Luffy replied with a smile. "I can handle it myself; rest," he said, causing Sanji to smile and get into the boat. Luffy then walked towards the kitchen, wanting to make coffee for himself.

Before he went into the kitchen, he turned to Usopp and asked. "Do you want anything, Usopp?" Luffy asked while looking over his shoulder.

"A cup of coffee should suffice," Usopp replied, causing Luffy to nod before heading to the kitchen. Just before he walked through the door, he gave a mental order to his clouds to rise into the sky for now.

When Luffy entered the kitchen, he put a kettle of water on the stove and turned it on. He then picked up two coffee cups and placed the coffee in both of them before he sat down at the table and folded his arms, waiting for the water to boil.

After waiting for about five minutes, the kettle finally whistled, causing Luffy to turn off the stove and pour some water into the cup. After he finished pouring, he stirred both of them, then picked them up and took a sip of the hot coffee.

"Mmmm, this is quite delicious," said Luffy while enjoying the taste of the black coffee. He then took another glass and walked out to Usopp. "This is it, Usopp," Luffy said, handing the cup to him.

"Thank you," said Usopp as he put down his gavel and took the cup from Luffy. Luffy then left Usopp and went to the front of the ship; he jumped on the Going Merry's head, being careful not to spill his coffee.

He then sat on the merry head and looked out to sea with a smile on his face, enjoying the morning air. But his enjoyment is interrupted by a ringing transponder slug.

"purupurupuru, purupurupuru" The snail in Luffy's coat rang, causing him to put his coffee down, put his hand inside his coat, and pull out a baby Den-Den Mushi with three familiar scars over his left eye. Luffy smiled before he pressed the button on top of the snail shell and spoke.

"Hello!" he said to the snail.

"LUFFY!" came the excited, drunken voice of Shanks.

"I'm guessing you woke up early because you've been drunk all night or you're still partying from last night," said Luffy while shaking his head.

"Hmm, sleeping is pointless! Liquor is more fun, hahahaha!" Shanks said, causing Luffy to laugh.

"So, what's wrong?" Luffy asked before he took a sip of his coffee. "Seeing how you called on the secure line, I guess you weren't calling just to check on your favorite student," Luffy said, causing Sanks to chuckle a bit. Then Luffy could feel that Shanks was getting serious.

"Ace is in paradise," he said, causing Luffy to have a serious expression on his face.

Three hours later

It's been three hours since Luffy spoke to Shanks. Currently, he is standing on the upper deck, looking at his crew. They were getting ready to drop anchor and set sail again. Nami's condition hasn't changed a bit since yesterday, and it's slowly getting worse. Luffy is starting to get more worried.

Usopp is still repairing the sides of the ship that Wapol ate, Johnny is on the lookout looking around, Nojiko and Vivi are with Nami, Mikita and Marianne are on the main deck securing the ropes, and Zoro is standing behind Luffy watching everything.

Meanwhile, Sanji, Yosaku, and Gem were still sleeping after being awake all night.

"Captain," came Zoro's voice from behind Luffy, causing him to turn around. "Where do we go now?" Zoro asked Luffy as he walked over and stood beside him. Luffy leaned against the railing of the upper deck and folded his arms before he answered.

"Is everyone ready to set sail?" he asked while looking at Zoro.

"Yes, everyone is up and ready to go," Zoro replied, causing Luffy to nod before he turned around and looked at his crew before he spoke.

"I guess I should let everyone know about our next plan," he said to Zoro. "All right, everyone, listen up!" Luffy got everyone's attention and made Vivi and Nojiko come out to see what Luffy had to say.

"Vivi told me something really interesting about the island that Wapol is looking for," Luffy said, causing everyone except Vivi and Nojiko to stare at him with confused looks on their faces.

"Wapol?" Usopp asked while holding his hammer.

"Isn't he looking for a place called Drum Kindom?" Marianne asked, causing Luffy to nod his head before he answered.

"Right, apparently this Drum Kingdom is a winter island famous for having the best doctors in the Grand Line," Luffy said, causing them all to look at him with shocked expressions on their faces.

"Wait, is that a winter island?" asked Johnny from the top of the watchtower.

"Spreaded out in the Grand Line, there are four types of islands that are distinguished by their different climates," Luffy said, making them pay attention to him. "There are summer islands (summer), spring islands (spring), autumn islands (autumn), and winter islands (winter)," said Luffy, causing the crew who came from East Blue to be surprised and amazed by the types of islands in Grandline.

"Wow!" Usopp's voice sounded amazed.

"Each of these islands has its own four seasons," came Vivi's voice, which made everyone look at her. "When traveling on the Grand Line, there are at least 16 different weather patterns you should be prepared for, from Summer Island summer to Winter Island winter and everything in between," Vivi explained, causing their eyes to widen.

Even the former Baroque Works agent was a little taken aback by the information. They all knew that the Grand Line had strange weather patterns, but they never knew why.

"There are always exceptions to this, and you can face an unpredictable climate at any time," Luffy added to what Vivi said.

"I think I understand," Usopp said, causing Luffy to look at him with an amused look on his face. "The Grand Line has these islands that have different seasons, and that's the reason why the seas between them have crazy weather patterns," said Usopp.

"Right, so the closer you are to the island, the calmer the sea will be around you," Luffy added before he leaned against the railing. "Usopp, however, that still doesn't explain half of what happened in this place," he said, causing Usopp to stare at Luffy with an amazed look on his face.

"Amazing," Usopp replied, causing Luffy to chuckle.

"Raise the anchor; we can talk while sailing," Luffy said to Zoro, causing him to nod. Then Zoro walked to the front of the ship and tugged at the anchor. "Johnny, look around for the nearest island; the water is a bit too calm," Luffy said, causing Johnny to salute his captain before he started looking at the horizon.

Everyone on board felt the Going Merry give it a forward jolt as the anchor was lifted, allowing it to move.

"Luffy," came Nojiko's voice as she walked towards Luffy.

"What is it?" Luffy asked while looking at Nojiko.

"Will we make it in time to save Nami?" she asked in a soft voice while tears started to appear in her eyes.

"Listen," said Luffy as he put his hand on her shoulder. "She will be fine. If I have to, I will fly her all the way to Mary Geoise alone and get the World Government to heal her," Luffy said, causing Nojiko to nod her head slightly.

"Thank you, Luffy," she said.

"Don't thank me; I haven't done anything," he replied. Nojiko was about to answer, but Zoro's voice came from Luffy's right, interrupting them.

"Captain, where is that lousy cook?" Zoro asked as he walked towards them. "I'm starving," he said, causing Luffy to sigh.

"Sanji, Yosaku, and Gem are sleeping. They stayed up all night keeping watch, so let them rest," Luffy replied, causing Zoro to fold his arms and speak.

"Pshh! A real man can do it without any sleep at all," he said, causing Nojiko and Luffy to stare at him with sweat appearing on their heads.

'This statement is coming from a man who sleeps at every chance he has,' thought Luffy and Nojiko.

"How about I make you something, luffy?" came Vivi's voice from their left.

"You know how to cook, Princess?" Luffy asked in a surprised voice.

"Of course I know how to cook!" Vivi shouted while folding her arms and pouting.

"For a princess who is a spy and can cook, the Grand Line is a strange place," said Zoro, causing Vivi's face to turn red.

Nojiko and Luffy safely took one step away from the enraged princess, allowing her to walk up to the vice captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and then beat him up.

"You ladies can be scary sometimes," Luffy whispered to Nojiko, which made her laugh. After Vivi was done with Zoro, she snorted and started walking towards the kitchen, leaving Zoro lying on the floor with two big bumps on his head.

"I'll be in the kitchen for those of you who are hungry," said the princess as she walked past Luffy and Nojiko. Luffy and Nojiko looked at Zoro, then at each other, before they shrugged their shoulders and walked towards the kitchen.
