The Little Thing Looks More Like His Dad

Nidia's blood ran cold. "I didn't know you were busy, sorry... I'll come by later."

Jackson watched as her slender figure rushed out of the study room.

Although he had only caught a glimpse of Nidia's figure, her pyjamas seemed a little oversized. During her pregnancy, it was as if she had only gained the baby's weight.

After giving birth, her figure became nearly the same as before her pregnancy.

Even though it had only been ten days or so, it was hard to tell she had just given birth. If anyone were to try and find any features on her that proved that she had just given birth, perhaps her breasts seemed more plump than before. Her body was producing breast milk, after all.

On the other hand, the person who was still in the meeting became increasingly bubbly. "Bro, everyone calls you a gentleman! I was the only one who called you a beast, a total wolf in sheep's clothing! I'm really a psychic! And from what Dylan implied... you weren't even gentle with her, huh? She ended up in the hospital!"

Jackson continued to read the documents on his desk and said, "If you don't have anything better to say, then save your energy."

A charming, princely man could be seen on the laptop screen. He was holding his laptop as he stood in front of a construction site. The dust didn't seem to bother him one bit, and his heart was filled with the desire for gossip.

"Jack, why did you bring her to the old mansion? Is your head still filled with dirty thoughts?"

Jackson then left the meeting and closed the window. The study room was now quiet once again.

Meanwhile, Nidia returned to her room. She leaned against her bedroom door and took a deep breath. She then looked over to her son in the surveillance cameras.

This innocent little being is able to cleanse those disgusting words she just overheard!

The baby laughed, and Nidia started smiling as well. She then heard the car engine start again downstairs.

After Jackson left, he stopped coming entirely. As soon as the baby was a month old, two new faces arrived in the mansion.

Dylan introduced them to Nidia. "This is Patricia, and this is Betty."

Nidia greeted them and then went upstairs to check up on her baby. Jackson had permitted her to see the child after her mental state stabilized. She held her child for quite some time. As she looked at her baby, she thought, 'Wait for mommy, mommy will never give up on you!' Before going home, Nidia decided to drop by the supermarket to get some groceries.

Later that day, she had dinner with her grandmother back where they lived together. Grandma asked, "The baby's father, can he really take good care of it?"

Nidia paused for a brief moment. She looked up and replied dismissively, "Grandma, his family is much more capable than ours. He hired enough people to take care of the baby, too. I'm glad he took custody of the baby."

Her grandmother was very old, so Nidia did not want to worry her. Hence, Nidia lied and said she was unable to take care of the baby and gave up on his custody voluntarily. Grandma believed every word Nidia said, thinking the child's father was just like any other ordinary man.

After keeping her grandmother company for a full day, Nidia showed her grandmother a few videos of her baby.

"The little thing looks more like his dad, right? He doesn't look quite like you..." Grandma was grinning from ear to ear.

Just as Grandma went to bed, Nidia decided to return home as well. However, she wasn't able to fall asleep. She tossed and turned, and even tried counting as much sheep as she could. Finally, she decided to go to a pub.

After reaching the pub, Nidia ordered some alcohol. However, she remembered she was a mother and that her child still required her breast milk, so she shouldn't be taking any alcohol at all. She got up and went to the restroom, deciding to wash her hands and leave.

"Abby, are you really getting married? Oh my god, congratulations! You're finally marrying your prince charming!" A girl's voice echoed through the bathroom stalls.

Nidia froze as soon as she heard the name 'Abby'. However, she continued washing her hands, Abby was a common name after all. It would be too much of a coincidence.

To Nidia's dismay, it really was that much of a coincidence.

She took a glance in the voice's direction and saw the two girls at the side from the mirror. One of them was indeed Abby South.

"We've decided to get married on the eleventh, but we haven't announced anything yet. Keep it a secret for me, okay? His family is really wealthy, after all. Yhey just like making every detail perfect!" Abby emphasized the word 'wealthy' as if she was showing off.

She went to wash her hands. As she looked up, she locked eyes with Nidia in the mirror.

....

Nidia didn't look away. Instead, she continued glaring at Abby.

Just a while ago, Abby was cheerful. She had come out to have a good time with her friends. When she mentioned her wedding to them, her smile was especially wide.

Pride was plastered all over her face Yet just as she saw her sister in the mirror, her bright smile turned into a shady smirk. Her friend didn't notice a thing.

Abby's friend had her head lowered as she took some soap. She said, "Abby, we'll be able to see your mother at your wedding right? It's your wedding, after all. It's a once in a lifetime event. Aunty can't keep holding art exhibitions overseas. No matter how much she loves art, it can't be more important than her own daughter's wedding!"

Abby then turned to her friend and said, "I feel a little sick from all that alcohol. Didi, can you get me some medicine at the pharmacy nearby?"

"Medicine? Okay!" Didi washed her hands quickly and rushed out.

Abby washed her hands slowly and gracefully walked to the side. She took two pieces of tissues and wiped her hands. The tissue was then thrown into the trash bin nearby.

Abby turned to her so-called sister and glared coldly at Nidia. "Follow me."

Two minutes later, the door to the staircase in the pub was pushed open.

"Why are you still in Baile City? Didn't I tell you to go back to the countryside?" Abby asked. However, she grew more infuriated when she saw Nidia's eyes staring back at her. Nidia's eyes looked just like their mom's. On the other hand, Nidia didn't speak a word.

"What other business do you still have here? Unless you... you still want to try and find a rich husband? With your looks? Give up already! I've lived in Baile City for years, and I've met many rich families! You countryside b*tches have no chance!"

All that came out of Abby's lips were insults towards her sister.

Nidia leaned against the wall of the staircase. The wall was cold, and the sensation coursed through her clothes and skin. She lifted her gaze and stared at Abby.

"What sort of expression is that? Do you want to fight back?" Abby shook her head, as if Nidia was a disappointment.

"We're both adults, so I'll be frank with you..."

"Nidia honey, do you even know how to seduce a man? No, you don't. You're just like mom! I can tell how reserved mom was towards dad! No wonder he divorced her.

What kind of man wouldn't want an alluring woman?"

"And... Nidia, do you know why I can marry rich, but you can't?" Abby glanced at Nidia's chest and said in disdain, "Tsk, you really wasted mom's good genes. All you have are your looks and your body, but you don't even put them to work."

"Are you done?"

"Of course not!" Abby said, a smirk slowly forming on her face. She stared at Nidia coldly. "Do you know? My fiance is rich and good looking. He's young, too! A well known prodigy, in fact. How could I get such a man, you ask? When he was 18 years old, I gave him a bl*wjob. He's been hooked since then. It was his first time, after all!

Now all he thinks about is me!"

Nidia nodded and praised her sister. "I understand how great you are. I can never compete with you. Some men like to call for prostitutes. It doesn't matter if they're pretty or not. They just have to be like you, horny enough."

At first, Abby was very smug at hearing what Nidia said. As Nidia went on, Abby grew slightly taken aback. As she snapped back into reality, a lump formed in her throat and she became visibly upset.

'She called me a prostitute!'

"By the way, I forgot to congratulate you on your upcoming marriage on the eleventh. Did Barend manage to find you an artist who holds art exhibitions overseas all the time?" Nidia said, opening the door and getting ready to leave. Her figure was slender, her aura haughty.

Nidia decided that she would deal with Barend South and Abby South, those two evil beings. She was going to make sure they get a taste of their own medicine.

....

All of a sudden, rain poured outside of the pub. There weren't any available taxis nearby, and it was hard to call for a cab with her phone as well. Nidia looked up as raindrops fell down from the sky. The sight stressed out slightly.

"Nidia?" A voice called out to her. She turned to the direction of said voice.

A charming young man came out of a silver Jaguar in the parking lot. He seemed gentlemanly and intelligent. Nidia stared at him for a few moments and said hesitantly, "...Theodore?"

It had been so many years. Theodore Chandler seemed so different from what she remembered of him.

"Do you want to go in and maybe catch up a little?" Theodore asked, realizing that Nidia was spacing out.

Nidia followed him to the second floor. They found a quiet place to talk.

"Are you working in Baile? What are you working as?" Theodore poured her a cup of hot tea. "Here, have some and warm up. It's pretty cold since it's raining."

"Thanks."

"You haven't told me. What are you working as?" Theodore asked again.

"I'm a designer, what about you?"

Nidia had known Theodore back when she was 12. She was in year 1 whereas Theodore, who was just a year older than her, was in year 4. He was indeed very intelligent. Not to mention, he had a good family background and was handsome to boot. Back then, he was the undoubted crowned king of the school.

Nidia then left Baile City and transferred to a school in her mom's hometown in the countryside. She heard from Lily that Theodore remained as the pride of Baile High.

Theodore held the white porcelain cup in one of his hands. He had not drunk his hot tea yet. All he did was stare at Nidia with his clear eyes. "What do you think I'm working as right now?"

Nidia shook her head profusely. "I don't know."

"Oh, sorry, I have to answer this!" She realized her phone was vibrating. It was Lily.

"Niddie, I just asked our old classmate who's a lawyer now. He said he still remembers you! If you really need it, you should give him a call! He said he'd give you a discount, too. Heck, he said he'd help you for free! Well, uhm, he did say while he isn't exactly the best, he hopes that he can win the case for you!"

Theodore had overheard a part of their conversation. As this was a quiet area, he was able to make out what was said through the phone.

As Nidia hung up, Theodore spoke up. "Lily Williams?"

Lily was Nidia's classmate back in junior high, and they had been deskmates.

"Yeah, Lily." Nidia replied dismissively, falling into deep thought.

She had no energy to catch up with him anymore. All she could think about was fighting for her child's custody with Jackson.

"I'm sorry, I overheard your conversation. Do you have a lawsuit?" Theodore's eyes met Nidia's, and he continued, "The lawyer Lily recommended sounded like he wasn't exactly the best choice. If you really want to win for certain, I can recommend you to someone."

"Win for certain?" Nidia was slightly surprised. Who on earth could guarantee that they'd win the case for sure?

"Of course, I'll give you his number." Theodore looked at his phone and scrolled through his contacts. He then gave Nidia the lawyer's number.

"Theodore, thank you so much." Nidia said. She looked at the time. It would seem she was able to call a cab now, and so she immediately left the pub.

The next morning, Nidia woke up and extracted her breast milk. She put the milk into a bag for preservation and placed it into the fridge.

Before leaving home, she gave herself a little encouragement and a pat on the back.

Theodore said that this law firm was in the busiest streets in the city central. Nidia herself was unfamiliar with lawsuits. After arriving at the office of Theodore's friend, she calculated the expenses in her head. If she were to go on with this, it'd probably cost her up to forty thousand.

However, this was all for the sake of her son's custody. She didn't care how much money she needed to spend. All she needed to do after this was work harder and earn more.

"Miss South, please take a seat." Robert Smith said, dressed in a suit, walked towards the sitting area. A beautiful secretary placed a cup of coffee in front of Nidia.

"Thanks." Nidia sat down. She nodded to the other young man who was sitting there as well. It was only appropriate to greet everyone here.

The young man was as well dressed as Robert. He nodded back at Nidia, and exited from his game on his phone. He then scrolled through his contacts to look for Theodore's chat.
