Hiding

"Leo?" Christine's voice was gentle, echoing softly in the dark, empty room.

Leo exhaled in relief upon hearing his girlfriend's gentle voice. As she hurried over to him, the click of her heels resonated through the cellar. He embraced his trembling girlfriend, holding her close. She began to cry as the loud scratching and clicking of claws could be heard on the floor above. Andrea noticed Jake laying on the floor and ran over to him crying.

"What happened to him!?" She cried.

"I think those," Leo paused for a moment, trying to think of the right words to say before continuing. "Things, got to him."

Andrea held Jake in her arms, she began to cry as she noticed his wounds. Chris walked over to the crying girl and sat down next to her. He brushed her dark curly hair out of her face and tried to calm her down.

"He's going to be fine Draya; it looks like Leo patched him up. He should make it through the night." Chris said softly.

Andrea nodded and laid her head in Chris's chest; he held her as she cried. Lillian looked around the room, there was plenty of food and water to last them, a few days at the most. But she still had a bad feeling about everything, as if she were being targeted.

"Hey guys is it just me or is something watching us?" Lillian asked in a soft shy voice.

Almost as if on cue, after she spoke there was a loud howl, it only sounded a few feet away. Christine yelped out in fear as she heard the sound, Leo held her tighter as the sound of claws scratching the floor could be heard from above.

"Just remain calm and quiet, and we should be alright," Leo whispered soothingly. "Hopefully..." he added under his breath.

Everyone nodded in response and Leo let his girlfriend go, walking over to a shelf, grabbing a few blankets for everyone.

"We'll sleep here for the night, and I'll see if it's safe in the morning. We should have everything we need for now." Leo said.

He gave everyone a blanket, and they all set up makeshift beds. After a while they all decided to lay down for the night. Leo turned on the TV, playing the news. There was at least four missing persons reports, four other people that went missing in the forest. Two of those people were found along the edge of the forest. Bloodied and mutualized, either ripped apart or eaten alive.

"The cops are blaming these so-called attacks, on a rouge aggressive bear. Do you believe that? Ha! A bear attacking people? I don't know if I do. Well, whatever it is folks, just be careful out there. Try to avoid the forest for now. Meanwhile there is expected to be at least eight other missing people, six teens, one minor and a college student. Hopefully they are still alive out there! I wish the best of luck to the families of those kids, supposedly they are on a camping trip-" The news reporter said over the TV before Leo shut it off. Christine seemed to be worried, she couldn't help but think about her family.

She had a little sister at home who was probably worried sick about her. All she could think about was getting home safely to see her. For now, all she could do was stay quiet and hidden and hope she would make it out of this mess alive. Leo laid down on his makeshift bed and looked up at the ceiling. He recalled his sisters screams and winced; he began to tear up. His little sister wasn't supposed to be here till next week. Did she come earlier then she told him she would? No, that's not like her. Right?

How was he going to explain this to his parents he has no proof. He had no idea what he was going to do. After a while almost everyone had managed to fall asleep, everyone but Marissa and Lillian. Lillian laid on the floor listening to the sounds of the creatures moving above them, she was sure they were trying to find a way to get to them. As she laid there listening to the creatures' movements above, Marissa rolled over and started to speak.

"Do you think we are gonna make it out of here alive?" Marissa asked.

The sudden voice scared Lillian, she jumped and looked over at the other girl.

"What?" She asked confused.

"Like do you think we are gonna make it home, or do you think we are going to die? I mean just look at Jake, he could have bled out up there. What if Leo didn't get to him on time?" Marissa's voice was soft as she spoke.

"I'm sure we'll be fine, we have Leo." Lillian said trying to comfort the other girl.

"Right..." Marissa said before rolling onto her back.

After a while both girls were laying down drifting off to sleep, they were both exhausted. Everyone else was asleep, Christine was curled up in Leo's arms while Andrea was laying with her brother. Everyone could only hope Jake would wake up in the morning, but only time could tell. After a while they all woke back up, Marrissa looked at Leo sadly.

"Leo tell us a story?" Marissa asked.

"All I know are scary stories..." Leo said softly.

"Thats fine just a story please...?" She said sadly.

"It was a dark and stormy day, the sun was replaced with dusk and the heavy drops of rain in the air, whooshing by heavily in gusts as it rocks your body back and forth, the strong wind is a bode of the impending storm. Remote lightening tells the direction in the ever-darkening day as soon, it would be the only source of light left, for all was about to be blacked out, knocked down and soaked by the skies or their own bodily fluids released by precision sculpted claws of the supernatural beasts that lurked in the shadows...." Leo started to tell the story before there was another sickening howl from above.

The sounds of claws could be heard from above as the beasts tried to dig their way to the group of teens.
