Life is well— life. Your life is only a sliver of who you are. Your life is shaped by what you do and how you do it. People you interact with, your interests, any previous relationships, your personality—everything.
Everything you've done in the past has led you to this point. One of the most important things we all want is praise and acceptance. It has an impact on how we accomplish things and our attitude towards our daily lives.
Just like that she was sitting in a room full of people. The people she was forbidden to talk with or to get involve. The people who gives her strange vibes was also the one who was curious about her. It's all called time.
Why don't you just kill yourself? someone at school asked her once.
Lauren think it was the kind of question intended to be cruel, but it was the first time she would ever contemplated the possibility. she didn't know what to say.
Maybe she was crazy to consider it, but she would always hoped that if she were a good enough girl—if she did everything right, if she said the right things or said nothing at all—she thought her parents would change their minds and come back.
Lauren thought they would finally listen when she tried to talk. She thought they would give her a chance. She thought they might finally love her and come back to her. She thought they could be able to live again just the way they used to fifteen years ago in the small house.
She always had that stupid hope.
Were you happy
Were you sad
Were you scared
Were you mad
The first time you screamed?
Were you fighting for your life your decency your dignity
your humanity
When someone touches you now, do you scream?
When someone smiles at you now, do you smile back?
Did he tell you not to scream did he hit you when you cried?
Did he have one nose two eyes two lips two cheeks two, ears two eyebrows.
Was he one human who looked just like you.
Color your personality.
Shapes and sizes are variety.
Your heart is an anomaly.
The world is flat.
Lauren know because she was tossed right off the edge and she had been trying to hold on for twenty years. She had been trying to climb back up for fifteen years but it was nearly impossible to beat gravity when no one is willing to give you a hand.
Lauren felt her heart was beating way to fastly. Her limbs had gone numb from disbelief. Her ears feel full of wind, her mind disconnected from her body.
His smile disclosed all the lies and secrets, which she couldn't help but have to keep with her.
She couldn't believe what was happening to her, as if her energy was again fading from her whole body. She tried to compose herself and maintain her composure, but the weight of his gaze was too much to bear. Her heart was racing, and her mind was clouded with confusion and fear.
Her hands were clutched, her sweat was breaking, and she was lost in her own fear. 'A vampire is talking in my mind. How is it even possible they don't hold these abilities,' thought Lauren questioning her mind.
"You have no idea, then. But don't be scared of me. I will not hurt you," she heard him again, which now terrified her even more. It seems like her friends had noticed her behaviour because Raden asked.
"Are you alright, Lauren?" Alara's soft gasp scraped past her ears, and she blinked back the brightness of the fire to find Alara beside her.
They were all looking at her worriedly. She looked more than petrified at the way he was looking at her, as if warning her with his gaze not to dare tell them.
She felt trapped and helpless, unsure of what to do or say next. Her mind raced with thoughts of how to escape the situation without causing any harm or making things worse.
"Yeah, I am good," Her voice had turned hoarse, each word burning as it came out. She suddenly started feeling cold.
He could fall into a trance at seeing his girl. His head tilted back slightly, making his gaze follow down his nose.
She looked away suddenly, feeling terrified of him. She ignored his gaze and lowered her head into her food. She glanced again at him from her side and saw he was not looking at her now. Sighing, she looked at her tray; however, she didn't have an appetite anymore.
Lauren glanced across the cafeteria, and somehow again, her eyes stopped on the same table, and she mistakenly made eye contact with a boy named Noah.
He was looking straight at her. When he caught her eyes, he waggled his eyebrows in a way that Lauren couldn't make sense of, but that still creeped her out a little. Forsake, who are they? She thought.
Lauren turned back to Alara and asked, "Why is everyone here so weird?"
"I'm going to choose not to take offence at that," Alara murmured and shrugged innocently while taking a sip from her drink.
They were sitting in the corner of the cafeteria, as far away from Lauren and her friends as possible. They weren't talking or eating, though they each had a tray of untouched food in front of them.
They weren't gawking at her, unlike most of the other students, so it was safe to stare at them without fear of meeting an excessively interested pair of eyes. Butterfly if she knew just like her, they were also curious and attracted to look at her, the girl who came after so many years.
"What are you planning to do now?" Vittoria pressed the question as she stared at Lauren from her side.
Just like her, Noah and Zaiden also snapped their heads towards Elliott, who had his eyes outside or may be nowhere. He looked like he was just here to make his presence known, but his mind was elsewhere.
"What should I do?" Elliott was half turned towards Vittoria, and they could see a faint hint of a smile curving his lips. "Hmm?"
"You should go and meet her," she said, to which Noah nodded while Zaiden didn't say anything about it. Rather, he took the can of juice from the table and started passing his time.
He was ordered to bring her here before the night falls and observe the nature near her or anything that could inform him of his arrival, but Zaiden didn't feel anything on his way, along with having done his work.
Aside from it, he had no idea what the monster thing was. Noah and Vittoria knew about it and were worried for her and for everyone here.
Elliott didn't say anything, and they could tell that he would not reply to them after all since his life was much messier than theirs. And here this girl will be a great problem for him in the coming days.
Laurence's eyes again met Elliott's. He was looking at her like she did something wrong, very wrong. He was sitting, with one arm on the chair and another on his lap.
He was literally glaring at her, and Lauren looked away. It was none of these things that caught to stare at them. This time something held her attention and made her act like this.
A girl sitting on their table was named Vittoria Ceretti. She had a beautiful figure, the kind you saw in the movies. The kind that made every girl around her take a hit on her self-esteem just by being in the same room. The cover of the sports cap she was wearing—was she interested in football? Lauren had a thought.
Her hair was grey-ash, gently waving to the middle of her back. She was beautiful, and Lauren was trolling over her. She would like to be her friend if there were a chance, but it was not going to happen when her friends explained about the Elite duo awhile ago.
Lauren couldn't help but feel envious of the girl's popularity and status among the Elite duo, making it seem like befriending her was an impossible feat.
However, she couldn't shake off the feeling that they could have been great friends if given the chance.
