Slice of his fangs

Just like that, her first day at university began, and she had the impression that she would make a lot of new friends.

Time had passed quickly while Lauren had taken three lectures in a row without any free time, as she stepped out of the classroom with her new friend, Alara.

She was a sweet and courteous young woman. She even offered to assist Lauren with her studies and notes. She recently got into the middle of the semester, and she understood how difficult it was for someone who had moved to another place. Lauren expressed her gratitude to her.

"Don't mind him. It's his personality and he likes to maintain his class." They were walking towards Cafeteria and Alara was talking with Lauren.

"Oh, I understand and I didn't mind him. He is our teacher. He can absolutely do this but giving you detention was a little bit too much." Lauren complained. A hand on her bag's strip while other was moving back and forth as she was walking.

"It's okay. He has given me a lot of time in the detention that now it's nothing new for me. I think he likes to punish me and just ME." said Alara importantly.

"Really?" Lauren asked stunned at which Alara nodded slowly. A frown was placed on her face as she pouted while informing about her days in Professor Anthony's class.

"Hmm his name is Hayes Anthony. He is teaching us computer for years now." said Alara, turning to face Lauren fully. Those green cat-eyes were slitted and smoky, and Lauren was shocked by the hostility she saw there.

"Anyways, let's get going. I have to tour you around and get you familiar with everyone here so you don't freak out when you meet some attractive men because you're going to see a lot of them," she exclaimed with joy as she looked very happy to make a friend.

It was her first time taking part in making friends. Not everyone here was friendly. Alara had been here without anyone except her two little munchkins, who must be waiting for her.

If there was anyone except Lauren, she would be overly excited to see some handsome dudes walking past her. But Lauren was less interested in boys because she was never able to leave the house on her own, and at school or university, she was annoyed by them but didn't know why.

Lauren had let down ten boys in university, as boys were usually attracted to her, but she was more focused on her studies; she wasn't an intelligent student, and she had to study hard so she wouldn't forget at the end of the semester when she will had her exams.

They strolled down the corridor, which was also crowded with students, some of whom were conversing while others, like Lauren and Alara, were on their way to the cafeteria.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you there's a Halloween party this Sunday, and you must attend," Alara said excitedly.

Lauren scowled inwardly as she learned that Halloween was being celebrated here. She recalled that Halloween was not celebrated at her former university. Students usually just celebrate it in their houses or throw a party at one of their villas, but Lauren didn't even go there.

Lauren used to stay in her home that day too, just celebrating Halloween alone and watching some horror movies. She was unimpressed by the party announcement and nodded, remarking in her mind that she would not go.

"Great!" Lauren said it with excitement, but she wasn't excited at all. Just to show the same energy as her.

"It's going to be fun! You're going to love it!" Lauren made a wry face.

"Great!" Lauren said it again with an even more excited showing than before.

Yes, she couldn't wait for the party to start.

"What are you planning on wearing to the party?" Lauren glanced at her, her mind racing as she responded.

"A dress?"

Alara looked at her as if to say, 'Are you serious, girl?' I mean, how can someone wear dresses to a Halloween party? Shouldn't she be dressed up in some fantastic costumes?

"Well, I could wear my favourite pyjamas."

"That sounds bad!" Alara quipped in dismay, and they walked past the common area towards the staircase. She didn't say anything more, and suddenly she found Alara stopping in her tracks, and Lauren, who had been following her quietly, paused her own footsteps.

She furrowed her brows as she peered at Alara's face, who was staring at something specific down in the crowd.

"Alara, what happened?" asked Lauren, who was kind of confused, but she did not get her answer.

As she became more perplexed, she turned around to see that there was someone—not just someone, but an attractive young man with long hair that barely reached his neck but was long enough to cover his forehead and eyes.

The very first thing she noticed was that he was coming up and had his face down. When he looked up, his gaze was drawn to hers.

Time seemed to slow down for her for a moment when she spotted his crystal blue eyes, sharp nose, and unkempt hair.

She never claimed she liked men with long and messy hair, but he looked fantastic with his hair, and Lauren had to confirm in her heart that he was extremely handsome.

His demeanour changed as he was near her; he slowed down and stared at her at the top of the stairs.

And as their gazes collided, Elliott lost all sense of where he was going.

She was everything and nothing like he could have expected her to be.

She was fragile, like all humans. So easily broken just a twist of his hand or a slice of his fangs and she could easily be dead. How could she survive the problems that were lingering on her shoulders all the time?

Lauren couldn't help but feel a flutter in her chest as she met his gaze, and she wondered if he felt the same way about her. She took a deep breath and descended the stairs, eager to find out.

Her heart warned her that it was dangerous. It was dangerous. She sensed danger in his gaze, but she lacked the courage to turn away. Why? She was also unaware of that. Their eye contact lasted long enough for the animosity to drain right out of her.

She felt like a different person. She felt like she did when she was a child, before her mother died and made the world so dark.

The tension in the air dissipated, and she felt her body go limp. She was tired, so very tired.

More than long enough for her to get her rampaging heart under control. And just that easily, Lauren forgot how to breathe again.

He was the one who broke eye contact and proceeded up the corridor. His tall back displayed for her how he had built his body with hard work. He didn't look like a student to her anyway.

She was in a astounded state when she was shaken. Alara was equally surprised to learn that the university's most popular boy had focused his gaze on her friend. She had no idea what to do or say.

She had heard that Mr. Handsome never looked at any girl or gave her even a passing glance, and that if he did, the girl would faint with joy.

She shook Lauren and smiled nervously in order for her to come down to earth. She took her hand in hers and guided her away from the crowd.

When it came to popular university males, students went completely insane. Which she disliked the most because they were students who came here to study, not to stalk handsome boys all day.

"Who was he?" Lauren found herself asking; she felt she had seen him somewhere but couldn't hold the strings, which were making her confused. Her voice was as low as a whisper, but Alara heard her quite clearly because she paused to reply.

"Elliott Rodriguez."

Lauren didn't say anything more and allowed Alara to propel her down the corridor, down a flight of stairs, and into a cafeteria. The shock still hadn't worn off.

With one look, Lauren knew this dark boy with the closed-off eyes and the pissed off attitude couldn't be the hero of anyone's story...

At least not hers.

He had walked right by without a glance from anyone but her. She couldn't remember how long it had been since a boy had done that. They all looked; at least some whistled, some stopped to talk, and some just stared.
