The sound of a school bell resonates through the halls, the happy chatter of children eager to leave fills the air but none happier than seven yet old ken. Ken was no taller than 4ft with hazel eyes and black hair, he wore a plain blue shirt black jeans with black shoes. He hurriedly bid goodbye to his friends and teachers and made his way home, after a brief walk he stood in front of the gate that led to his home. He opened the gate then made his way up the stairs to the front door of his fairly large house. The front door was slightly open it was unusual but he chose to ignore it , a decision he would come to regret. He slowly pushed the door further open, where he was then greeted with a messy scene, pictures of his family were on the hardwood floor broken glass was scattered everywhere and he smelled a strange unfamiliar smell. In shock ken slowly stepped into the house he carefully walked through the broken glass on the floor and called "Mom?"..."Dad?" He received no reply only silence. Tears began forming in ken's eyes as he called a second time with a quiver in his voice "Mom?"....."Dad!?" He then heard a faint voice "ken?" For a second ken was relieved he rushed to his parents room from where the voice came. But upon entering the room he stopped. As if something outside of himself held onto him he couldn't move he tried to speak but he was only barely able to mutter the words, "Mom?"....."Dad?" What ken saw was something no child should ever see, red was all he could see, on the bed ,the walls even on the ceiling it was as if a mad artist obsessed with the color painted the whole room, he began to shake and he fell to his knees he frantically looked around and saw his parents laying beside each other in a pool of their own blood "ken" it was his father's voice that he had heard ,he was half dead and was visibly weak but he was beckoning to his son. Ken quickly went to the side of his father, "Dad" Ken uttered with a face full of tears, his father slowly placed his bloody hand on his cheek looked him in his hazel eyes and with all the strength he could muster said... "I'm sorry son". To Ken it felt as I time had stopped his heart raced and his mind was filled with confusion. Questions kept swirling around in his mind "how did this happen? what does he mean by sorry ?and why did this happen ?" "ken, Ken,KEN !!" He jolted up out of his sleep it was his teacher calling him. It was all a dream a dream about a past he could never forget.
