Chapter 65: Layla

"Come on." Jared appears relaxed as he takes my hand in his. His smile showcases his dimples, and I can’t stop the smile that grows on my own face.

My nerves seem to be jumping all over the place. Meeting Jared’s father for the first time is daunting and yet exciting. Jared’s dimples disappear, and he squeezes my hand as we walk through the foyer. I feel overdressed as the red material swishes a fraction of an inch above the marble floor. My hair is loose, and Amanda worked so carefully on my hair and makeup that when I looked in the mirror, I was surprised by what I saw. I’ve opted to leave my sling off so as not to ruin the stunning dress. I’m careful with the placement of my arm and keep it stiff along my side. Jared stops walking, and I’m surprised when he releases my hand and faces me.
