“If it is within my power, I promise that I will return to you.” She popped up on her elbow and looked down at him. “Will you be willing to cross the barrier to see me if it is not permitted that I cross back over to the mortal realm?”

“We’ll make it work; I just want to know if you want to come back to me.” He was suddenly scared, what if she didn’t want to come back to him? What if this whole thing was in his head and she was just humoring him.

She leaned in and kissed him, stilling his racing thoughts. “I want to return to you; it is the first want I have ever been permitted and I will hold it in my hands until I am back by your side. However, it happens.”

He pulled her in, kissing her with what was probably too much hunger. She looked dazed and her kiss-swollen lips almost pulled him back in, but he forced himself to roll away and sit up. God, he wanted her so badly and now she was leaving. He looked over at the clock.
