Chapter 36

Ishaan watched the door close and felt his gut hit his shoes. How the hell had that gone so wrong? All he’d wanted was to get some baseline information on her species and his mentor had treated her like a science experiment. Now she’d never see him again. Gritting his teeth and scowling he marched back through the hospital corridors and back into the lab that had been outfitted for Carina’s examination. Diane was already slicing and prepping slides of Carina’s tissue, the tissue that she’d cut out of her with no warning.

“Spare me,” Diane turned to look at him emotionlessly. “Act like a scientist and not like a lover, do you know what this sample is? It’s the first look at an alien race.”
