The promise he made was eternal

At the behest of Dulcia's side, meetings and communication between Aeneas and Selah are cut off for that week. They say the bride and groom should not see each other to avoid problems and conflicts. Well, unfortunately, Aeneas and Selah already had problems before being told to split up.

"What did I do then to make her silent like that?" muttered Aeneas while looking at himself in the mirror.

Their last encounter was not looking good. Something is wrong and Selah is hiding something from him. He had already sent Azel to spy on Selah. According to his report, Selah did nothing suspicious.

"I greet Crown Prince Balthasar, Blair Seneca."

Aeneas turns around and sees his brother walking in. Aeneas greeted him with a happy smile. "Crown Prince Blair, good to see you here," he greeted.

Blair returned the smile. "It's not usually that I see you with a hairdo like this," he said, stroking his hair a little. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you for the compliment," replied Aeneas. He gestured for the people in the room to leave. "I'm glad you are willing to attend instead of your father and approve of my marriage. Really, thank you."

"It doesn't matter at all, Aeneas," Blair said softly. "But… I still think that this is all too soon."

"Do… Brother, mind that I got married first?"

"What–no, no. It is not like that. I mean, I never thought that a day like this would come. You get married and build your own family… That means this time, I really have to let you go."

"Your words are like a father who releases his daughter to marry."

"No. Aeneas, you know you are so much more to me."

For a moment, Blair looked lost in thought. He seemed to be thinking of something else far away. His sapphire blue eyes, which are the same as Aeneas's, looked touched. It was at a time like this that Aeneas' heart sank.

His brother, his only brother, the only family he can currently rely on, is the only person who clearly knows how Aeneas has been doing all this time. Blair is the only person in the world Aeneas can rely on–at least for now.

But it won't be for long, Aeneas thought. After this, Aeneas would have a family of his own and knew he could count on Selah.

"Blair." Aeneas took Blair's hand and held it. "Thank you for everything." Even though you let me fall into this deep abyss, even though you used to be silent… If it weren't for that, I would never have progressed, he added to himself.

Blair's eyes were a little watery. "No need to thank. You are my brother. I should give you happiness," he said. "I congratulate you on your wedding. May you always be happy."

Aeneas smiled faintly and looked Blair straight in the eye. "Yes."

***

When you think about it, a lot has happened in the span of these two seasons.

The exposure of Blair's affair to Aeneas' betrayal by "taking" Selah. His first meeting with Selah and how she became a duchess by dethroning her father. Then the revelation of Aeneas' secret in Helena's diary...

"Everything is unpredictable," mutters Aeneas when he hears the announcement that the bride is entering the church.

The church door was open. Aeneas slowly turned his body towards the door. Selah appeared at the end of the carpet in their chosen wedding dress after a long debate. Of course, Aeneas, who knows more about trends, wins with Madame Deborah's support. And look now: the dress she chose looks beautiful on Selah's tall body.

His future wife, who so far always wears dresses with formal models, now looks charming. Aeneas is 100% sure that what Selah is wearing right now will become a trend. But he also believes no woman will be suitable for that dress. Only Selah would look beautiful in that dress.

"In the presence of the Most Merciful God, we are all gathered today to witness the two of them make a sacred promise..."

Aeneas's eyes met Selah's, which were blocked by the veil she was using. There were no smiles on either of their faces. All they have now is faith in one another.

"I, Aeneas Seneca, choose you, Selah Dulcia, to be my wife. And this is my faithful promise.

"I promise to be faithful to you and to serve you in good times and bad, in abundance and in need, in sickness and health. I promise to love, appreciate and respect you as a wife. I promise to be a good father to the children we will be blessed with. That's my promise to you."

After saying his sacred promise, Aeneas only realized that his voice had shaken earlier. No, his whole body was shaking. Either because his own words touched him or because he realized that the promise he made was eternal.

What a shame, thought Aeneas.

Then a firm movement of warmth enveloped his hand. Aeneas looked down and saw that Selah was holding his hand. The woman who would legally become his wife in a few seconds seemed to be trying to give him strength.

"I, Selah Dulcia, choose you, Aeneas Seneca, to be my husband. And this is my faithful promise…"

Selah's voice sounded firm as she made her promise. Selah said it with undeniable confidence. There is no doubt, there is nowhere to retreat. She had already decided to make that promise, so she wasn't going to break it.

[We have arrived here.]

Aeneas wanted this. So he has to be as sure as Selah, now his wife.

I protect myself, the people I love, and my wife, Aeneas resolves with conviction as he lifts Selah's veil.

Selah's greenish-olive eyes glisten. Eyes sharp, full of confidence, and decisive. It was those eyes that Aeneas would see for the rest of his life from now on.

And they kissed.
