The New Student

She was shocked and was not able to say anything. It wasn't a dream after all. Caden was in the karaoke bar yesterday and took her home.

Was that the reason her dad was acting weird? Was it Caden who asked her father to guard her?

"Alira!" Lea called.

"You didn't know. He came yesterday. We really thought he was just one of your fantasies. But you didn't tell us he's super hot and gorgeous! He's really like a prince!" Samantha commented.

"How could she tell us? The last time she saw the guy was when they were six. The nerve of him! After twelve years, he'll show himself without an explanation? If I were you, I would break up with him!" Lea ranted.

"By the way, how did you know his name?" She asked.

"He introduced himself. But is he really a prince? I mean he looks like one." Vira said.

"L-Let's not talk about him. Maybe he came by for a visit." She said, ignoring her friends.

"Maybe he's here to break the engagement! I mean, why would he suddenly appear after twelve years?" Cassy commented.

She was surprised by what Cassy said and suddenly felt a tightness on hee chest. Did he really come here to do that? She bit hee lips and ignored what her friends said, and walked ahead of her friends.

They quietly came inside the classroom and sat on their seats. She still couldn't believe that Caden was here. She sighed and took one of her books to read. She needed a distraction, and reading was one thing she always do when she's stressed.

"We have a new transfer student today. Come in!" The professor said.

She wasn't looking when the professor came and just continued reading. She wasn't even interested in the new student, but Samantha kept tapping her shoulder.

"Alira!" She called.

She turned to look at her with a frown on her face.

"What?" She asked, annoyed.

Samantha wasn't looking at her. Her eyes were stuck in front of the classroom and pointed in the direction of the professor, so Akira turned to look at who she was staring at.

Her eyes widened when she saw who the transfer student was.

"Everyone, this is Caden Richards. He will be attending Golden Oak from now on."

She didn't know what her reaction would be. Her heart was beating so fast as she stared to the man in front.

He was around five feet nine inches tall with blonde hair and a pair of silver eyes. He looked like his father when he was younger. But Caden somehow looked manlier than his dad.

"You can sit behind Miss Wilson." The professor said.

As Caden walked towards his seat, he was staring at hee. But his eyes looked so cold and distant, so she averted her eyes and looked outside the window.

She didn't even know how the first period ended. Her mind wandered off the whole class and felt like Caden was staring daggers behind her back.

Her friends were giving her small glances and couldn't approach her.

And she couldn't understand why Caden was acting like that. She should be the one to feel angry. He was the one who abandoned her and didn't keep his promise.

She saw some of the girls from their class approach him. They were curious about the new guy who looked like a celebrity and suddenly transferred in the middle of the school year. Many girls were also lurking outside their classroom just to see him.

She felt like something was piercing her heart. He wasn't saying anything. He didn't even say hello to her. She had the right to at least receive an explanation from him. She was his fiance, after all. Or was she the only one who thinks that they were still engaged? She thought inwardly.

"Hi, Caden! I'm Bettina. This is Sarah and Luna. We're just wondering if you want to join us. Since you're new here, you could eat lunch with us."

Bettina was one of the pretty girls on campus. She didn't have anything against her, but she just didn't like her. She felt like she was constantly staring at her, watching her every move.

Everyone was looking at them, waiting for Caden's answer. She bit her lips and waited for him to talk.

"Hey, you! Aren't you going to greet me?" Caden finally talked.

She thought he was talking to Bettina, but she was surprised when Samantha tapped her on the shoulder again.

She frowned, and when she looked at her friend, she noticed that everyone was staring at her.

When she tilted her head up, Caden was already standing beside her. Her eyes widened, seeing him staring intently at her.

"I-I"

"What? Have you forgotten your fiance's face?" He said in a cold tone.

She heard the students murmuring with each other. Bettina's face was full of confusion.

"W-Wait. Fiance? Who?" Bettina asked.

Caden didn't even glance at the girl who asked the question. She could feel Bettina's irritation because of that. It was the first time someone ignored her.

"This girl." Caden answered.

To her surprise and everyone's, Caden touched some strands on her hair then leaned forward, giving it a small kiss.

She heard some girls squealing and took some pictures of them. It looked like Caden was bowing in front of her, kissing the tip of her hair.

Then he suddenly smiled at her.

"Did you miss me?" He asked.

She blinked twice. She couldn't believe that he was really in front of her. But how could he act as if nothing had happened? Did he think she would just accept him again after abandoning her for years?

Before she had the chance to answer, Lucas came rushing into their classroom.

"Asshole! What do you think you're doing?" Lucas asked with gritted teeth.

Then he grabbed her hand to pull her away from Caden, but Caden suddenly grabbed her other hand, pulling her towards him.

"Let her go!" Caden almost yelled.

"She's my sister!" Lucas yelled back.

"She's my fiance!" It was the second time Caden called her his fiance.

She was beginning to get mad because they were both pulling her by her hands, and they were already hurting her. They also attracted more people who were taking photos and videos of them.

"Stop both of you!" She yelled.

She knew everyone was surprised; it was the first time she yelled that loud at anyone.

She glared at Lucas and snatched her hand away from him. Then she turned to Caden, snatching her other hand.

"You! Don't act like everything was okay. You owe me an explanation!" She said in a firm tone.

She turned to Lucas again. "I'm okay. You don't need to protect me anymore. I need to talk to him, so go back to your class."
