Chapter 31

"So, how did it go?"

"Nothing happened... it didn't really seem she was interested in me at all." (mc)

"As if that wasn't obvious enough in the first place! I can tell just by looking at her that she has the hots for this guy instead!"

"I-I see...! So that was the reason, huh? I didn't notice at all." (mc)

"He's obviously playing with you."

In my apartment room, I have two of my friends hang out with me after a group meet-up with a bunch of girls a few days earlier.

While I am an uninteresting guy with no redeeming quality whatsoever, my two friends were both extremely good-looking and appealing. One was the athlete type, a handsome man with a masculine body, and a confident and gentle personality. The other was a tall glasses-wearing smart business guy with a cool air around him.

"So, how did it go for the two of you?" I asked.

"Well, you know the usual... it ended up in a one night stand."

"Ugh... you make it sound so easy to achieve something like that with a woman you just met for the first time!" I can't help but complain.

"That's just how it is... Mn... what about you muscle-brain?"

"We exchanged numbers... it turns out she was a freak and asked me to be one of her fuck-buddies or something... we're actually planning on meeting again later."

"A freak, huh? Was she good?"

"Good at bed, terrible personality..."

"Fine enough for me."

"Seriously... you two are hanging out with women left and right, can't you like... introduce me to one of them? One of those freaks you're talking about is okay!" (mc)

"You really sound so desperate right now, *****. You know the only reason we set up that meet-up was because of you, right? We did our part already."

They really only did it because I asked them to... I can't complain.

"Argh...!"

I've been friends with these two since childhood and they've been nothing but objects of jealousy to me. They are talented and popular, and more importantly, they get all the girls! Friends are meant to be equals, so why aren't I getting the same treatment they do?

"Sigh... That's it, I'm giving up... I think I'll just live out my life as a hermit forever... and just frequent soap lands..." (mc)

Now that I think about it, that's truly the only place where I don't get ignored by women. It's my paradise.

"Hey, hey... don't be so down. You can always get another chance... we'll just arrange something for you again."

"I don't care. It just always ends the same way anyway... I'll just get ignored at the last moment, while you two casually have your fun."

"Look, we just take the likely terrible ones, and leave you with the best one... that's how it always was, but you just somehow always ends up messing it up."

"Hey... is it because I'm a hermit in my house that girls don't want to be with me? Or I'm really just that boring and uninteresting?" (mc)

"That's not true. You're not that at all. If you really were that boring and uninteresting, we wouldn't be hanging out with you."

"Really, you think so...?" (mc)

"Yeah... you have your quirks. Most of them are bad, but some are good"

"*Sigh... It might be true that girls see you that way, but it's honestly fun for us hanging out with you."

"You... you guys...! Thank you!" (mc)

These guys might be assholes, but they are great friends nonetheless.

"Guh! What now? Are you seriously tearing up?"

"I just can't help it!" I admitted as I tried to wipe the tears that came out.

"You've always been like this... you're such a mess..."

"Ho-ho! This reminds me of that one time we made you dress up for that made cafe event we did at school. You really let those tears out!"

"Please don't bring those memories back! I've had enough of them!" (mc)

Memories of the times I cosplayed for school events flashes on my head. Those terrible days, I buried them already, but they're threatening to resurface again because of these two.

"You looked great, to be honest..."

"Shu-shut up! Kuh... Let's just start today's session already...!" (mc)

"Hey, don't try to deliberately change the - !"

"Come, let's drink!" (mc)

With that declaration, I signaled the start of our drinking session, our monthly meet-up, where the three of us hang out and get wasted.

"That's right! Enough with problems, let's eat and drink!"

"Eh... fine, let's do it. My throat is dry from talking so much anyway..."

And with that, we started our thing. The next morning when we woke up, we were exhausted and feeling sick from hangover. We were a mess, but we still had fun nonetheless, and that's the most important thing.

...

...

...

We could've had more fun, but accidents happen... and this was the last time I ever saw them again.

I died... and there was no way I could've prevented it...
