Chapter 13

Scott was sitting in his office chair swinging his head from left to right several times to crack his cervical bones to relief the tension on his neck. He picked up the phone on his desk and started to dial but then placed it back on the receiver again. He did this a few times and he looked nervous making the call. He was so deep in thoughts he didn’t notice his colleague and good friend, Gary, observing him from the assistant’s desk outside his office.

Suddenly Gary opened the door and poked his head in. “Who are you trying to call?”

“Nobody!” Scott practically slammed the receiver down when Gary invited himself in. He corrected. “It’s just a new potential client.”

“Potential client?” Gary was unconvinced. “Does her name happen to be Jenna?”

Scott tried his best to act and look nonchalant but hearing her name caused a muscle to kick in his stomach.
