Welcome to moonlight

It's been a couple of weeks since the reveal of everything to Zero as Clyde and Lorraine put him through the wringer with training him harder than what they regularly did since this time it was abilities involved.

Zero's answer still shocked Lorraine as to why he would choose to join the guild, the thought of traveling to another universe let alone making it possible sounded crazy but with who his dad was who's to say he doesn't have the ability like his father given he traveled from universe to universe himself.

Shirtless and sweating a ocean was Zero as he was still in his fighting stance breathing heavily with his guard still up while looking at Clyde and his mom off to the sideline "Pay Attention!" Clyde said as two waves of sand came towards him and when he side stepped to the left the first wave past him by as the second was a bit harder to dodge.

After making it past without the second wave touching him he saw Clyde throwing a right jab to his face as he managed to activate his ability for his fist to pass straight through him completing his goal for today.

"YES!" Zero shouted as he smiled from ear to ear while Clyde smiled back at him "Good job kid I'm proud of you but there's just one more thing." He said while Zero looked confused "What are you gonna do about that final wave of sand?" He said as Zero turned around and was instantly hit by the wave as Clyde laughed to himself.

"Let him up." He heard Lorraine said as the sand started to go back to Clyde forming a small circle on the ground as Zero could be seen on the ground slowly picking himself up off the ground "You finally got it! You'll be an amazing fighter with your ability."She said excitedly as he only smiled slightly as she picked up on it.

"Sweetheart...you still have a couple of days before you're brought into the guild you can take a break from training with us." She said as his face scrunched up in confusion "Why?" he said as she watched Clyde walk away.

"Zero...the life of being a hunter, wether it's hunting down or keeping the supernatural in line or off killing the corrupt that don't belong here it's all a taxing job and one that's not so easy to let go, the more you learn makes it that much harder." She said while sighing.

"Hun what if you don't find your brother?"

"STOP!" Zero shouted as it made her jump slightly as he backed away from her "I WILL find him! And when I do maybe you'll start having some faith in me and maybe he might know something about my father." Zero said while attempting to head off as she grabbed his arm "Zero it's not that I don't have faith in you!" She nearly shouted while sighing.

"The life of a Hunter isn't something that you can pick up and put down whenever you please, you chose this life to look for another person who isn't even in this universe..." With another breath she wiped the corners of her eyes while letting him go "This gift you have isn't something I was supposed to let you learn in the first place, your father even went as far as to put a barrier around the planet...I just don't want to lose you over someone who might not exist." She finished as she began walking off into the house.

Zero stood there thinking about what she said for a moment as the thought crossed his mind 'What if he's not alive? Would this all be for nothing?' He thought and another thought crossed his mind that made him shake the negative attitude off.

'If he's anything like me he's strong maybe even stronger I can't assume what I don't know, I will find my brother.' He said while balling his fist up as it lit aflame while looking at the metal targets they had set up for him and began throwing fireballs.

A SMALL DISTANCE AWAY

Clyde and Lorraine watched Zero begin throwing fireballs at the targets they had set up in the woods "You gotta admit, he's pretty sure of himself about his goal, at-least now you know he won't falter." Clyde said while Lorraine still had a worried look on her face.

"I know Clyde it's just that...what if this person Zero is desperate to search for isn't good at all?"

"You think some kid out there can determine Zero's actions? And besides even if the kid was alive no one has the ability to universe travel it's unheard of." He said as Lorraine was looking at the ground "What if we did know?" She said while Clyde stared at her wide eyed.

"And how exactly would we know something like that?" He said as she started walking off while he followed her back towards the house, once out of the woods they saw their gazebo and stepping onto it Clyde's confusion grew until he saw Lorraine put her thumb on one of the pillars.

"Welcome Mistress!" They heard a female robotic voice say as Clyde didn't even know this was in their own backyard "Take me down to ground level 7" She said as the floor started to drop "How long were you gonna keep this a secret?" Clyde asked as she sighed.

"I wanted to tell you I just didn't know how to, this was something I had done before you came into my life-"

"You mean while Lucas was in your life." Clyde said correcting her as they started to pass a big red one written on the wall "Why the secrets Lorraine?" He said as there was no response "We ARE MARRIED for crying out loud!" He said while putting extra emphasis on married "Don't you think I know that Clyde!"

"DO YOU!" He shouted back as they made eye contact "Every since Zero discovered himself and got the drop on our conversation- well our one sided argument." He said after correcting himself "You've been different, you're desperate to convince Zero to not join the guild and at first I was along for the ride but now I realized it wasn't to see if his resolve was strong...." He said while inching towards her "You don't want him connecting with his brother at all do you?" He said as tears began to fall from her face.

"You don't understand!" She began to say as she sat down on the bench "When Lucas told about his child before Zero he told me that the way their bloodline works is depending on the parent they could potentially have more than one ability, Lucas said he only has two so naturally a child of his could get both of his abilities and naturally Zero has the ability to copy and keep any ability he wants and can transfer abilities by touch but the other one is dangerous so dangerous that Lucas thinks he got a second ability maybe even a third" She said as they stopped at their destination.

A dirt path could be seen along with a black gate as she started to walk towards it with Clyde following close behind "But if Zero can copy it all he should be fine right?" He said as she shook her head "Just because he can copy doesn't mean he can copy everything and I'm guessing that ability will probably kill him before he can even use it, I know the child had gotten Lucas's other ability but it's the same as Zero's in a way." She said while walking through the gate.

"So if he can copy what makes him so dangerous then?"

"He has to kill the person with the ability in order to get it he can't touch them or be in the same vicinity as an ability being used in order to get it like Zero, one would think that makes them equal" She said as their walk lit up lanterns with each step making Clyde more in awe with the place.

"Does it?" He asked as she shook her head no making him even more confused "Not if he has the other ability Lucas fears, his great grandfather had it because his family and another family mated but the ability doesn't get passed down because his great grandfather was a product of that other family, like bloodlines the ability is still there and he thinks it's in the child along with a potential third." She said as they arrived at two lanterns one burning brighter than the other.

"I can't remember it's true name but I call it amp, he could make any ability he has stronger in the process of a battle while taking damage and adding it on to his strength it may sound like a nice ability to have but it's dangerous to have where Lucas is from and only the true bloodline family is allowed to have it."

"And what about the third?" He asked as she shrugged her shoulders "He thought he saw a third maybe there's only just the two we know of, these lanterns lets me know that Zero is alive and his brother and that huge flame should represent how much stronger he is" She said as Clyde saw that flame was at-least three times the size of Zero's own.

After taking everything in Clyde looked at Lorraine as she was staring at the flames- Zero's brother to be exact as he could tell this was something that sat at the back of her mind "You didn't have to keep all of this a secret Lorraine, you could've told me."

"And what's telling you gonna change?" She said while her voice cracked "According to Lucas they could wanna kill each other for territorial reasons, it's not common in blood siblings but it still happens from time to time." She finished as she felt Clyde grab her and pull her into a hug.

"We will make him ready for when they do meet, he will be strong just like the brother he's looking for." He said while kissing her forehead "Let's just hope we don't run into him anytime soon or ever for the next couple of years" He said while chuckling as Lorraine laughed along with him "Clyde, I'm afraid he's gonna get hurt." She said while hugging him as he hugged her back "I know Lorraine...I know." He replied while looking at the flames worry also entering his thoughts.

THE NEXT DAY

Zero got up bright and early as he heard the chirps from the birds outside his window as he immediately headed downstairs in his white tank top and black shorts and the moment he reached the bottom of the stairs he saw both Clyde and his mom sitting on the couch drinking coffee "Well you're up early." his mom said to him as Zero smiled as he jumped from the last stair practically floating over towards them as he landed on the couch perfectly.

"Of course I am!" He said excitedly while grabbing her cup from off the glass table "Wait don't drink tha-" She tried to stop him but he sipped it and in that same moment he spit the coffee back out while his face remain scrunched up "Eww! What's up with your coffee? Is that...*sniff* *sniff*...is that alcohol?!" He said while spitting some more onto the floor "Yes and what about it?" She said while casually sipping from her cup along with Clyde "You would've known that it wasn't regular coffee if you had asked me before picking up my cup." She said while chuckling slightly.

"So, when are we leaving for the guild?" Zero asked as they shared a look before putting their cups down "We know there's no stopping you now that you've chosen to continue on searching for your brother through the guild missions we assign you on, but Zero make no mistake, even though we are family do not expect any special treatment because at the guild hall we are guild mates with positions and roles we have to follow." He said as his mom nodded word for word agreeing with what he said.

"You're going into the guildhall with us today, you will meet Guild-Master Embrues but before you meet him you're gonna be assigned to a group and that group will be like your very own family, your relationship with them outside of missions is on you. Because your reasons for doing this doesn't match up with no one's at all so don't expect them to understand you." She said as Zero nodded slowly as he began to think about what she just said 'Plus my father was someone that was supposed to had been killed, so me going around saying I'm looking for my brother isn't exactly gonna make anyone happy.' he thought as he sat back.

"Okay, so how many of us is it in a group?" Zero asked as they shrugged their shoulders "It could be three or four it depends on how many newcomers there are" Lorraine said while standing up "Enough chitchat, it's time to head down to the guild, get dressed and we'll meet you outside." She said as Zero beelined for the stairs wondering what outfit to put on for his first day and after moment of deciding he heard a knock at his door.

"Hey, I brought you something." Clyde said while stepping through the door as it was a black jean jacket with a gold bull head on the back blowing air from the nostrils "This was the coat I wore as a kid...believe it or not growing up I didn't necessarily have my father either." Clyde said as he saw that it caught Zero's attention "You see, my whole life I only had my mom to really look out for me until I joined the guild and at that point it was the guild that raised me and they became my family...long story short son try not to look at this as a quest to only look for your own blood related family, look at it as meeting people that understand us and know us in ways no regular person will." He finished saying as he got up and walked out the room.

The coat felt nice to Zero, it even had black fur around the collar as he slipped on a red T-Shirt with black jeans and his favorite black and red converses that had roses custom made on the side. Once he made his way down the stairs and he stepped outside to see Clyde smiling at him as Lorraine even gasped as she saw the coat and hugged onto Clyde's arm "You didn't!" She said while wiping her tears as Clyde nodded slowly "I know he'll be happy to see Zero in this coat." Clyde whispered as she gave an agreeing hum back.

"Okay, so what now do we drive there or..." Zero asked confusingly as they both chuckled while reaching out to grab him "Nope, we teleport." His mom said as a strike of lightning came as they were gone in the same instant.

It felt as if he was flying through the air as it only lasted a moment as they appeared in front of what looked like a bar as it said Moonlight in blue neon words "Good luck Zero and remember what I said okay?" Clyde said to him as they zapped off again as Zero walked inside and upon entering he saw men and women everywhere drinking and talking as music played in the background.

"Hey kid!" A deep voice said as he looked up and saw a dark-skin man in a black T-Shirt and jeans with black boots with a silver chain that sparkled every five seconds if a light was to hit it "lemme see some ID." He said as Zero began to panic 'They told me this was the guild! Did they accidentally bring me to a REAL bar!?' Zero said to himself as he chuckled slowly while tapping his pockets "Well you see the thing is, I may be under age to be here." He began to say as a black metal card like object hit the floor as they both looked at it 'Did that fall out my coat pocket?' Zero said as he watched the man pick it up.

"Come this way." He said while walking off as Zero followed close behind, to his left was the tables and people including the second floor bar and to his right was the bar as well as they headed for the bathroom straight ahead and headed inside as there were five stalls as one was covered signs that it was out of order "Go into the last stall and knock on the wall three times" He said as he walked out as Zero headed for the stall covered in signs and once he opened it he saw the toilet and tissue as he shook his head slowly as he reached up and knocked on the wall three times like he was told.

Embarrassment filled him as he didn't expect anyone to actually open a wall from behind a toilet and after waiting a few more moments he turned around and pushed open the stall only to be met with an explosion of water and buckets poured over top of him as laughs echoed inside the bathroom "Welcome to the guild!" Was all he could hear as he was pulled out the stall "Jesus maybe we went overboard this time guys." A feminine voice said as he felt a towel wipe his eyes and once he opened his eyes he was face to face with a girl with half blonde half black hair as her light brown eyes met his as he became speechless.

Beautiful was all he could say to himself as he watched her start laughing "Someone went a little brain dead didn't they?" She said as she put the towel in his hand as a couple of guys and girls started pushing him out the bathroom still drenched in water and whatever else they dumped on him and once they stepped out the bathroom cheers from all around erupted as there was a lot of clapping too.

A group of people walked up to them as Zero recognized two out the three as the group that surrounded him suddenly froze as the adults stopped in front of him one being an older looking man with gray curly hair that was neck length with dark brown eyes as he stood at six foot three while his parents stood off to his left and right "Hello, my name is Embrues and I am what you would call a Guildmaster or leader of anyone joining under me, we are called moonlight, I thought it was pretty cool to call us that since we are the light in the darkness fighting against the creatures in the night that threatens humanity and it's because of us that they continue to sleep better at night...welcome to the guild and I can't wait to see you progress." He finished while turning away from them and leaving.

"All of you right here are in a group, from now on you'll be doing missions together no one will never go alone on a mission unless it was approved by Guild Master Embrues and as you all know this guild is apart of the big four, the most important people period in our line of work period, missions will be given to you by the barkeep and completing these missions will pay you onto these cards." Lorraine said while Clyde stepped forward with the black metal cards that had a crescent moon engraved on them as they immediately went into their pockets.

"Other than that are there anymore questions?" She asked as the girl with the split dye Zero stared at raised her hand as he watched his mother point at her "Will there be opportunities to do missions with other guilds? I heard it keeps the relationships strong." She said as Lorraine nodded in agreement "They will be presented but on those occasions you have to be proven you're ready for those type of assignments." She said while clapping her hands together "Other than that Welcome to Moonlight." She said as her and Clyde walked away.

"That was literally the lightning reaper and Sandman!" He heard one of the other girls say as he turned and saw it was two girls and one guy and after recalling the events from the bathroom he could've sworn there was more "I heard that Sandman and the Lightning reaper been married for at least ten years" The guy said as the split dye girl he met in the bathroom shouted no as they debated amongst theirselves as Zero could tell his parents were admired here inside the guild.

"What do you think?" They decided to ask him as he didn't know wether to respond with the truth or to not tell them they were his parents and played dumb "Hey wait a minute, we never told you our names did we?" The guy said as he reached his hand out "I'm Vinny." He said as Zero shook his hand as he came to find out that he was squeezing his hand only for Zero to do it back over powering him quickly.

He wore a black hoodie with jeans and black crocs as his hair held black curls while he stood at five foot eleven 'What was his problem?' Zero thought as he looked at the other two girls as the brunette walked up to him and gave a slight wave as she wore a red plaid flannel shirt that seemed to act as some kind of dress as she also wore all white shoes while standing at five foot seven "The name's Tia." She said while the Split dye girl did the same little wave as she practically wore the same thing while standing at five foot one with light brown eyes "Gina." She said as Zero reached his hand out to her "Zero." He said as he held her hand as if it was a fragile object and only for a moment.

The day went by as they all spoke and got to know each other better and before the day decided to end they all went to the arcade that also had a roller rink, once nightfall came they all started to head home and once Zero made it home he had a big smile on his face because at the moment joining the guild seems to be the best decision he ever made.
