CHAPTER TEN (JEALOUSY)

"You claim that Memma is the strongest but see that, even my dear Nenma is proving you wrong." The queen said to her husband when they were alone.

"I never said that. Do not put words in my mouth woman." King Bajju protested.

"I am just joking your highness." The queen said and chuckled at her own words.

The princesses got the best treatment and got ready to have their powers tested the next day.

"We shall now begin the competition." Announced the guard.

The princesses were given several things to try their powers on including moving a huge rock and they both performed extremely well even though today, Princess Nenma was leading and it was all because of the prince that was present there, anytime she looked at him he would give her a heartwarming smile and that would immediately motivate her.

But Memma was distracted, she was feeling jealous of her sister as she watched all this drama. Well, drama was the word she used.

And because of this distraction, she didn't realize when she angrily squeezed the life out of the antelope she was supposed to save from its injury and lost to her sister.

Nenma was announced as the winner but when she saw how sad her sister looked, she couldn't help it so, she gave up her chance to become king to Memma.

The people present there spoke highly of Nenma's character and good nature. They prayed and blessed her and Memma happily accepted the victory and honorary gifts presented to her.

Nenma was hugged by King Bajju and the queen, they were so proud of her. The ceremony ended with merriment and an all-night party but Princess Memma's maid wasn't too happy about how peacefully things ended and so she hurriedly followed the princess to remind her of how her sister humiliated her by simply handing over her success to her.

"How did Nenma win?" Princess Memma asked as she got into her room. She threw off the honorary bracelet that was given to her.

"You were distracted by that stupid crown prince." Her maid replied as she knelt by her side.

"No. I was distracted by my sister's happiness. I don't know why I can't bring myself to see her happy and smiling." Memma said.

"Despite all your efforts my princess, your sister still gets the favor of the people." The maid said trying to instigate the princess.

"True. And how dare she try to gain more respect and sympathy from people by saying that she doesn't want the throne and prefers to give it to her pathetic sister, right?" Princess Memma asked getting furious.

"She did that to make you see that you are no match for her despite your efforts." The maid said adding fuel to the fire.

"She did that because she doesn't know what I am capable of," Memma said with a wide smile.

"Then show her exactly what you can do princess." The maid said to Memma and smiled inwardly at her success at turning Memma against her sister.

A shadow was seen walking through the corridor of the royal palace, which could be an imposter because the shadow was walking towards the king's chamber but at the door, the shadow stopped and turned towards the right. It walked in that direction until it got to the special guest chamber that was built for only people dear to the king.

Or kings and royalties who come to visit the king. The shadow stopped at the door and got busy unlocking it with a bunch of kings it took from its side purse. After the door was opened, it went in and made its way to the last room in the chamber. It knocked gently on the door.

"Who could it be this late?" The sleepy prince yawned and got up. He was contemplating if he should open the door or not when a thought suddenly came to mind, he blushed at the thought.

"Could it be that my dear princess has become so adventurous that she would dare to sneak into the guest's chamber just to see me?"

He smiled and hurriedly got up. He adjusted his night robe and went to the door, the person outside knocked again and the prince turned the lock.

He opened the door slightly but the person pushed him into the room and went in after him because they could hear the whistle of the palace guard very close to them.

"The crowned princess." The prince called and bowed before her after he turned on the lamp-like bulbs powered by the Kugama people's magic and saw Princess Memma before him.

"Stop with the formalities. I am sure that you do not treat my sister the same way." Memma said a bit upset.

"I am sorry Your Highness." The prince apologized and asked.

"But what brought you to my room this late?"

"Can you not guess it?" The crown princess asked.

"No, princess." The prince said a bit confused.

"I want to make you my husband," Memma said.

The prince gasped at this.

"Wha!!! What!" The prince stammered.

"I want to make you my husband," Memma repeated.

"But that's impossible." The prince shouted before he realized that it was late and he could be heard.

"Why?" Princess Memma asked.

"You know why. Me and your sister Princess Nenma have plans to present our decision to get married to the king." The prince replied to her.

"I don't care, I want to make you my husband and that's final."
