Why?

/Edoardo's POV/

My alarm went off, waking me up from my beautiful dream. I stretched to turn it off and rolled8 to the other side of the bed. I was a little sad to find it empty like the other days. However, I shouldn't be like this though. Because all I have prayed for almost my entire life was just to have her by my side. A smile crept on my face as I remember the day I asked her out for the first time.

***Flashback***

July 8, 2018

I'm shaking my legs under the table. My hands are sweaty and my eyes are scanning the empty restaurant. Everything should be perfect today the flowers, the candles, the lights, the room, and the music. That's why I called Mom to prepare everything. She is the only person that I can trust with this.

"Darling, it's been two hours. What time did you tell her to come?" she glanced at the watch as she sat beside me.

"8 p.m.," the shock on her face said it all. "I got nervous," I giggled.

"It's 7:15, and you have been here for almost three hours,"

"I didn't realize that,"

"I have never seen you being like this for a girl. You know we could just ask her family, right?"

"We did that, and she rejected it."

"You said you didn't like her at that time," she raised her eyebrows and slightly tilted her head as if she was skeptical.

"I wasn't lying," I scratched my nose as I looked away.

"You are lying now. You said you weren't interested just because you didn't want to force her,"

"Look, Mom, it's 7:30. She'll be here any moment," I said pushing her to stand up.

"Okay, okay," she grabbed her bag, "good luck," I kissed her forehead and she left. As I guessed Eliana came in five minutes. I started fixing my suit as she approached me. My whole body is sweating and my breath has become shaky. I gathered all the energy that I had and stood up as she is right in front of me.

"Good evening, sir," she saluted like a soldier on duty.

"Good evening, Eliana," she giggled, making my heart skip many beats. I pulled a chair for her and she took a seat. I sat in front of her and started fixing the tissues and forks on the table.

"Are you okay?" she held my hand. I'm not okay after that.

"Y. . . Yeah, why?" I forced my words out.

"You're sweating, your face is red, and you are shaking. Are you sick?" her brows frowned and she put her hands on my forehead, starting to check my temperature. "Oh, my God, you have a fever," her eyes widened. God, who looks this hot while panicking? I took her hand from my head and slightly squeezed it before speaking.

"I'm perfectly fine," I smiled. "I'm just nervous,"

"About what?" I exhale sharply as I closed my eyes.

"Listen what I'm about to say is crazy," she fixed her postural listen to what I had to say. "This is something I had in mind for years. I thought sharing it to you will help me," God I sound so ridiculous.

"Sure, what is it?" her eyes slightly widened out of curiosity.

"Would you like to date me?" I said it quickly. She was frozen at my words. She clearly did not expect that.

"That's unexpected," she huffed as she let out a chuckle,

"It's okay if you don't want to," I forced a smile. 'please don't hate me,' I begged in my head.

"It's not that I don't want to, I'm just," she sighed "Not sure," she finished her sentence. I slowly leaned in and stopped when our lips were centimeters apart.

"Can I?" I whispered on her lips. She gave me a nod and I connected my lips with hers. Her lips tasted like a strawberry and they are so soft. I moved my lips slowly making sure I get every taste of her. She responded after a few seconds wrapping her hands around my neck. I feel complete now. I left her lips with a small pop and looked at her.

"So, is it a yes?"

"It's a yes," her lips curved upwards.

***Flashback end***

"Edoardo!" she shook me slightly.

"Yes, Amorina,"

"What were you thinking? I called you nine times already," I pulled her by her waist, making her sit on my lap.

"You," I can't help but smile at her. Having her feels amazing.

"What about me?"

"About the day I asked you out?" her lips tightened as she forced a smile.

"Were you thinking about how you were sweating or the way you say 'Would you like to date me?'," Saying that she burst into laughter. I was just staring at her like an idiot. She is so beautiful. Her laughter was a blessing to my ears. The way her body moves when she chuckles, how her eyes smile along with her teeth, and how her teeth are arranged perfectly. I have never thought that a smile could affect me this much. But hers surely did since I felt a warmth in my heart that I never felt.

"I love you," her giggles went silent. She slowly wrapped her hands around my neck, "Je t'aime," I pulled her closer to me.

"Why are you saying it in French?" she gave me a coy smile that showed her dimples perfectly.

"I don't know which language best describes how much I love you," she got off of my lap after slightly hitting me.

"I have to go now anyways," she went to her closet and took some outfits. She then changed before my eyes giving me a good view of her perfect body. She finalized her look with some heels and sprayed perfume on her neck.

"Bye," she blew me a kiss before leaving. I then got off and went to the bathroom. After a quick shower, I changed into my suit and went to work.

I'm now on my way to work and I'm already missing my Amorina. So, I took my phone out and started at a photo I took while she was working. Her hair was stuck in her ear and a glass resting on the top of her ears. It was just her side profile but it never fails to make my heart skip a bit. I can't stand her beauty so, looked over the window and saw someone walking on the other side of the road.

"Stop the car," I told my driver and got out of the car. I crossed the road to meet the person. He let out a loud breath and twisted his head as he saw me. I lifted one corner of my lip to a sly grin.

"So glad to see you on this beautiful morning, Detective," I put my hands inside my pocket.

"I wish I could say the same," he pressed his lips forcing a smile.

"It's alright. Not everyone sees beauty in evil,"

"What do you want from me?" his expression was null this time.

"What do you want from my girl?"

"Everything a police wants from a criminal,"

"Or you can't stand the fact that she didn't do anything that sends her to jail,"

"Did she send you for this?" he clenched his jaw.

"You think she would?"

"Not after what you did to her," he tilted his head, a smirk playing on his face.

"What are you talking about?" I frowned.

"How can a gentleman like you leave his girl in that situation?" he scoffed as his smirk grew wider.

"What the fuck are you talking about?"

"She was crying her balls out," the thought of her tears along with his mock getting on the last nerve I had. "She was literally shaking—" I grabbed his collar.

"What the—" he pushed me away gritting his teeth

"SHE WAS NOT OKAY, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?! SHE WAS SHIVERING AND WEEPING HER EYES OUT!" he screamed and his eyes were about to pop out.

"She said she wanted to face it h—"

"She didn't, you idiot. She called you and you chose a stupid work over her!" he rubbed his temples. I was frustrated that she was facing all of it alone and I was just busy with some business. But what I don't understand is why he reacted this way? Why is he mad?

"I thought you wanted to see her like that," his eyes widened as if he realized something.

"I. . . I need to leave," he walked past me and I didn't dare to stop him. I furiously went to my car and told my driver to take me to EIB Corps. I can't believe she lied to me. But, why? Why did she lie to me? Who called Mr. Cassidy? Why is Riccardo mad?

"We're here, sir," it was my driver. I quickly got inside the building and headed to her office. It was on the thirtieth floor so I took an elevator there. It took thirty seconds to arrive there but it felt like years for me. When I finally reached her office, the secretary tried to greet me but I ignored her and barged inside her office.

"Hey, love," she smiled, making me forget how to stay mad.

"Why did you lie to me?" I tried to sound firm in front of her sparkling eyes.

"About what?"

"You called me that day. But you said you wanted to face it alone," she touched her nape as she shift her gaze to the window.

"I. . . I," she shattered trying to find words to explain. I kneeled before her and kissed her knees.

"I'm sorry," I looked up from her knees. She gave me her sweet smile as she cupped my cheeks.

"See, why I can't tell you that I called. You can't stop blaming yourself. You always try to help me with my problems but if I face them on my own one day, you will punish yourself. I don't want you to do that. I'm fine. I have grown up," her grey eyes never left mine.

"I know, I just—" she pecked my lips.

"Seni seviyorum," she smiled gently. "I learned it from you don't look at me like that,"

"Seni çok seviyorum," I planted a simple kiss on her lips.

"Did you get your degree in romance, Romeo?"

"I just try for you, Amorina," I kissed her hand. She removed her hands from mine and traced my neck to my chest.

"You're showing too much skin," she played with the button of my shirt.

"I was just showing off how you claimed me last night," she gave me a knowing smirk.

"Good boy," she patted my head. I stared at her for a good second and smashed my lips on her, which caught her off guard. I enjoyed the smoothness of her lips for a moment and broke the kiss after slightly biting her lower lip.

"If these lips lie to me again, I'll have to punish you, Amorina," I whisper near her ear.

"I won't," saying that she wrapped her hands around my neck. I hugged her by her waist as I caressed her back.

'Who told your dad, though? Why is Riccardo mad? Why is he so concerned about you? Why did your tears bother him that much?' with these questions in my head, I just tightened my grip on her waist.
