Chapter 6: The Road Ahead

John and his team had been on the move for several days, trying to put as much distance between themselves and the community as possible. They had lost some of their own in the fight, and they were running low on supplies.

As they walked through the empty streets, they came across a small group of survivors who were also on the move. The group was led by a man named Marcus, who seemed friendly enough.

John and his team were wary, having just been betrayed by their former community, but they decided to take a chance and approach the group. Marcus welcomed them and offered to share some of their supplies.

As they walked together, John and Marcus talked about their experiences since the outbreak. Marcus told them about the different communities he had been a part of, and John shared his own stories of survival.

Despite their initial skepticism, John and his team began to trust Marcus and his group. They started to feel like they had found a new home, a place where they could rest and regroup.

But as they traveled together, they began to notice something off about Marcus. He was always watching them, always seeming to be one step ahead. John and his team started to suspect that Marcus might not be as trustworthy as he seemed.

Their suspicions were confirmed when they stumbled upon a small stash of supplies that Marcus had been hoarding for himself. It was a small amount, but it was enough to make John and his team realize that they couldn't trust him.

When they confronted Marcus, he tried to play it off as a misunderstanding. But John and his team knew better. They knew that they couldn't risk staying with him and his group any longer.

As they prepared to leave, Marcus became aggressive, demanding that they give him some of their own supplies in exchange for the ones he had been hoarding. The situation quickly escalated, and a fight broke out.

It was a brutal fight, with both sides taking heavy hits. But John and his team were determined not to let Marcus and his group get the best of them. They fought with everything they had, eventually managing to subdue their attackers and make their escape.

As they walked away, John and his team knew that they couldn't trust anyone anymore. They had to rely on themselves if they wanted to survive in this harsh new world.

But despite everything, they also knew that there were still good people out there, people who could be trusted. They just had to be careful and stay on their guard, always watching for the next threat that might come their way.
