Chapter 1: Waking up... Again.

Well, here we are again. I wonder who I am this time... I haven't opened my eyes yet but I can tell the bed I'm on is luxurious so I'm either the child of a wealthy family or in a very nice temple hospital... I can hear birds and feel a nice breeze with the sent of flowers in the air so it's more likely to be the former. I have gotten into the habit of keeping my eyes closed whenever I start a new life just to see how much I can guess before I dive right in. it's kind of fun I guess... most of the time I'm right.... In my first life I was a cultivator and lived for hundreds of years, seeking that which all who follow the path of the Tao seek. "immortality" If I had known what that would truly mean I would have just lived out the rest of my days as Grand Master Kai "The yin and yang heavenly dragon" but I didn't and here we are.... it turns out that when you achieve immortality, it's only your sole that becomes immortal which is how I am now living my... um.... its been a lot of life's so I don't remember... I have lived as many different people in many different worlds and have tried every occupation that piqued my interests... Now I am immeasurably bored.. Since I have always had a fondness for reading i am now looking at my life's from a different perspective and trying to figure out which character I am and what the ending will be.

Each life I live is different in may ways but some annoying things are always the same. for example, I am never "born" into my new life. when I die in one life I enter into the next available vacant host.. The Closest I ever came to actually being reborn is when I came into the body of a baby that was stillborn.

The next similarity is my parents. From what I have gathered, the more the hosts parents loved them, the shorter their lifespan, so when I had parents that hated my guts they seemed to be seeking immortality as well....

The last similarity is my name. Although my name chances with each life, they all seem to work with the name I had in my first life... Kai... I ended up with names like Kailey, Tekaila, Kailayah and so on. While I don't yet know my name in this life I know these three things for sure... Now let's see...

I have not heard any human movement since I gained consciousness but on the bright side, I can feel my spiritual power! This life will suck a lot less if I can access the power in my soul. I will have to wait a while though. based on the pain in my stomach and the tingling in my extremities this poor girl seems to have been poisoned. Boy will they be surprised when I wake up! ha ha ha ha!

Let's see... if I have been poisoned, I'm likely one of three people... I will have to stay quiet in this bed for a day or two before deciding on how to handle this new life. I need more information.

1: The poor helpless and honestly (a little dumb) heroine.

2: The daughter of someone very important with a lot of enemies or...

3: The hated and dispised Villaness

Over the next 3 days I figured out that cultivation in this world will not be difficult. The spiritual energy of this place seems to be very high.

I also found out that this person's name was Kaimera and that she is the 3rd of the 3 possible options. she was rude, arrogant and lecherous. I also realized that not everyone seems to hate her. She still holds a place in the hearts of two people. Her mother who is apparently the Empress and her personal maid Lynn. There were a couple other visitors... The second princess who was irritated that I was taking my sweet time to die and the first princess who spoke with a poisonous kindness. She was very eloquent and sounded like she was truly concerned for her sister but I could practically hear her smile as she spoke. I'll have to watch out for that one.

My mother seemed to love me a lot which is unfortunate for her...

Regardless of who I am, I need to figure out how I can enter this story with as much drama as possible!

I remained quiet for the past 3 days just so I could get a feel for the people around here. I received several visitors but only 2 of them actually seemed to care about this pers... me...

The first was my mother who is apparently the Empress. She seems to love me very much which in unfortunate for her...

The second was my personal attendant who had been with me since I was very young. She starts to cry every time she askes me to wake up.

There were a few other people who I need to pay close attention to. The first princess, The second princess and several attendants and maids that obviously don't want to work in this palace... Because I'm so benevolent, I'll be granting their wishes hehehe.

This seems to be a very religious world and I'm hated by a lot of people... so if I can make it look like I was given a second chance by the gods I can also validate having lost my memory and not knowing anyone. it will also make more since that I'm not acting like human trash any more. That settles that then... Now I just have to wait for a good opportunity and make it look convincing!

Day 5 that I have been pretending to be on my death bed and I still have not found a good opportunity to make my miraculous recovery... I need witnesses for this to go well but people don't really here visit often and when they do it's only one at a time! this is so annoying!

Wait, This could work! I think I hear the Empress with her entourage of guards and attendants. Even if she is the only one in the room when it happens, That's ok. No one would dare doubt the Empress!! Her guards and attendants will be outside waiting any way and I'm sure they will rush in the moment they see a strange light coming from the room. It has been a long time since I had to convert spiritual energy into divine energy... I haven't really had a need to since I was I soldier in the raycorra army and the demons were summons by that ass hole of a Letch. I don't need much though. just enough to heal this body's injuries and convince the Empress that I have been given Devine assistance.

The door is sliding open and it sounds like two people are stepping inside. I can feel the presence of at least five though... One of the people stopps near the door and closes it and the other steps up to my bedside.

My daughter... (oh, yup, that's the Empress) I'm so sorry... I wish you would open your eyes so I could tell you this in person... I should have kept you closer, maybe then I could have seen the signs.

I hear the voice shake to a stop, then she sits in a chair by the bed and takes my hand with a long sigh. (Now!)

I start to circulate my spiritual power in my heart which compresses it and converts it into Devine energy, then I slowly start to spread that Devine energy throughout my body. I can't go too quickly because I could literally make my heart explode... one of my life's ended that way... As the Devine energy spreads, warmth replaces the tingling sensation in my arms and legs and the pain in my stomach starts to fade....Aaaaaand the dramatic side effect of Devine energy is that my whole body starts to glow.

The woman beside me obviously jumped to her feet in surprise because I heard the chair slide then fall over. As I predicted, people started bursting into the room.

Guard: You're Majesty! Are you alright?!

Servant: What's going on?!

Empress: Impossible...

The room slowly goes quiet and almost deathly still as if everyone in the room was afraid to breathe... I better wrap things up before it gets weird... Once I was sure that the body was in a healthy state, or at least as healthy as I could get it at the moment. I took a long, dramatic breath and grabbed my chest as my eyes shot open. "Where am I?! What's going on?!" The Empress rushed to my side. "Kaimera! My baby! You're awake!!" The Empress began to cry and everyone else in the room stood in complete shock... Thats when I noticed something strange. The Empress was wearing light armor... and all the guards appeared to be women. Most of the servants and attendants looked like men... What kind of backwards ass shit is this?!?!
