#Chapter 101

I've read in self-help books how time makes it easier to forget someone. But in reality, that's not true. Time doesn't erase the sound of their laughter, the way they held your hand, enclosed their arms around you, cheered on you, encouraged you, and loved you. The remnants faze in and out of your memory like a playlist on a shuffle. It's impossible to press skip.

Warren and I shut down as the mere mention of the topic tighten the weak connection cord stretched between us. It's early to talk about the event that buried our friendship and feelings so deep that we couldn't dig them out ever again.

The flight goes by me overlooking Jessica's designs and making a list of things for Yasmine to manage. She threatened to block me if I sent her more emails instead of messages and photos.

We land in the afternoon at the airport where a sleek Rolls-Royce and an SUV are parked. Warren's bodyguards get our luggage.
