Chapter 31: A desperate plea

The air was thick with tension as Danisa stood before Aunt Rose, his eyes locked on hers in a desperate plea. He knew that he had to reach her, to break through the barrier of anger and resentment that had built up between them.

Aunt Rose's expression was unreadable, her eyes a mask of indifference. But Danisa refused to give up. He took a step closer, his voice shaking with emotion. "Please, Aunt Rose," he begged. "I know you're hurting. I know you're angry. But please, don't take it out on me. I'm just a kid. I don't deserve to be treated like this."

Aunt Rose's gaze flickered, her eyes darting away from Danisa's face. For a moment, he thought he saw a glimmer of shame, a hint of regret. But then, her expression hardened once more, and she turned away from him.

Danisa felt a surge of despair wash over him. He had tried everything, and yet, he still couldn't reach Aunt Rose. He felt like he was losing her, like she was slipping away from him forever.

But then, something unexpected happened. As Aunt Rose turned away, Danisa saw a faint tremble in her shoulders. It was a small, almost imperceptible movement, but it was enough to give Danisa a glimmer of hope.

Maybe, just maybe, Aunt Rose wasn't as lost as he thought. Maybe, deep down, she still cared for him, still loved him. The thought gave Danisa the strength to keep going, to keep fighting for the aunt he once knew.
