Chapter Thirteen: Baby

The living room became silent as a very furious and obviously sickly Syne walked in. He stood in front of a very frightened Chris who was probably terrified for his life.

   "Can we talk?"

Chris decided to keep quiet. Recently, his boyfriend had been moody, which wasn't a normal thing. The Syne he'd always known was either sweet, or quiet most times, he'd hardly ever seen him angry. Syne's mother had tried to convince him to ask Syne what was wrong but…honestly, he was just too scared. They were to celebrate a year of being together in a week's time but he couldn't bring it up because, well, he was scared.

He exchanged glances with the guys sitting around him. They shrugged, raising their hands up. They definitely weren't going to be of any help.

   "Sure", he finally answered.

He was surprised his boyfriend didn't burst in anger with how long he was taking just to answer and stand up. He followed carefully behind him to the kitchen which was quiet and had the wonderful scent of cooked food.

He watched as the younger man sat on a kitchen stool carefully and then looked him dead in the eyes. He didn't know whether to smile or frown.

   "Is everything okay?" Chris asked.

Obviously everything's not okay. But it was his best bet in starting a conversation.

Syne's sharp eyes looked at him. "I've realized why I've been so moody lately".

"Okay?" Chris urged him to go on, leaning on the kitchen counter.

Syne sighed, massaging his temple. He was swinging his legs slowly as he tried to get more comfortable to say whatever it was he wanted to say.

"So… I'm not sure how to feel about the crazy ass news I just got like a week ago because I don't know what you'll think. I've been planning this for a while and…"

Chris's brow furrowed with worry. "Is it something bad? Are you ill or something?"

Syne shook his head. "I went to the hospital to check what was wrong with me. Doctor said I was pregnant".

There came the silence. Chris looked at Syne who in turn, looked at him.

Chris watched him peek under his lashes. He was obviously looking at him, uncertain about his reaction because he was so silent.

"How are you feeling?" Chris asked.

"Was quite uncertain and terrified the moment I heard the news. I know some men get pregnant, just never thought it'd be me".

"I'm so sorry, Syne", Chris said, feeling terrible because it was all his fault.

Syne had told him how he wanted to focus on his career and everything else but no kids, here he was ruining everything. He should've used protection that one time he thought it "didn't matter". He was such a dick.

"What are you sorry for?" Syne asked. "You did nothing wrong, you know. I'm sure if you'd known such things could happen it would've been prevented".

Chris hated the fact that he was the one being comforted by him, instead of the other way around.

"Do you want to get rid of it?" He blurted.

Syne's eyes widened. It seemed he'd never thought of it.

"Or you want to keep it?" Chris asked again, walking closer to his boyfriend. "I thought your career's important to you. Don't you want to have everything settled before you focus on a child?"

He wasn't going to stop him, it wasn't his body and all but… if he ends up regretting it, they would both be miserable. Miserable as fuck.

"I…" Syne trailed off, looking down at the floor.

   "Want a hug?" Chris offered.

It didn't even take a while for him to accept his offer and jumped into his arms. The hug lasted for a while.

   "I'll think about it properly".

"Okay", Chris responded. " I'll support whatever you decide".

"You have a choice too, you know".

"Yeah, I'd rather stay quiet for this one".

Syne laughed loudly. "You're being a coward".

Chris shrugged. "I don't care, really. I'll do whatever you want, but I do know that I don't want you to make such a life altering decision and put your life on hold and… you get the point".

   "I do".

Syne looked up into his eyes, smiling. "You smell different… in a good way".

   Chris grinned. "New soap".

   "Wonderful".

Chris bent to kiss him deeply, then his eyes returned to his face. "Are you happy?"

   "With you? Yes. Always".

   "That's good".

"I may not keep the baby", Syne whispered, resting his head on his chest.

   "Okay. I'll support your decision".

"I know you don't want to keep the baby, too", Syne continued. "Thank you for letting me decide though. I wasn't planning on keeping it though, maybe some other time we can plan for such".

   "Of course", he agreed.

   "I love you, Chris".

Chris felt himself melting. "I love you, too, Syne".
