Descending.

I paid attention to my spoils in my status panel as I picked up the daggers from the corpses of the recently deceased pair.

I had gained a new [Talent] along with a [Medium-Tier Tonic] which served to stitch together my wounds, though it left some scarring, not that I cared what I looked like anymore.

The new talent served to reward my reckless style as it stated that I'd grow stronger the more fatigued and emotional I was, greaaat.....

Ultimately I didn't think anymore about it. I just kept walking, and soon enough I encountered a set of descending stairs not too long after.

I just sighed and accepted my fate as I emotionlessly walked down the stairs. What could I even feel at this point?

It's my fate to play along with this places games.

"Ding! Congratulations for clearing [Floor 1]"

"Ding! [Significance] rises! 1 -> 2"

That answers one of my questions I guess, I looked at my panel as I saw I could allocate 10 points total, or improve one of my [Traits].

Seeing as [Plunder] couldn't improve I just allocated it into my endurance and agility. A [Floor 1] assumed a [Floor 2] and so on, I'd have more chances to plunder better traits so I'd rather invest it on myself for now.

The reason why I raised endurance and agility in particular is simple, my new [Talent] used my stamina in exchange for the increase in raw power.

Even now I felt that i'd just ran a marathon despite the battle being over in a few minutes.

What surprised me though was that improving my stats in this way wasn't painful at all, it actually felt rather nice. Like a warm stream entering my body, it was gentle and left quietly once it was done.

I'm assuming this is how you were intended to get stronger in this place, though it doesn't answer how anyone could survive without food or water though.

Oh, I doubt anyone could make it farther than this then huh?

Unless they cannibalized on the corpses...

In any case I started to snack on the awful [Ration] I had on me at all times as I continued my descent.

Eventually a door appeared before me at the end of the spiral stairs, pushing it without hesitation I found myself in another lifeless corridor that had less light to than the one before it.

In front of me was nothing new, just another path to continue walking in a confined space.

Real fucking great, I almost threw my food in anger, was it too much to expect a change of scenery?!

Exhaling the most controlled sigh I've ever done in my life I repeated the cycle until I met the first creature on this floor, it wasn't a goblin.

It. Wasn't. A. Goblin.

The creature before me was something else entirely but it didn't look any more intelligent. Well it's as much as I've come to expect from the creatures of this dungeon.

It was on its hind legs and much taller than myself, it was also quite muscular, and covered in orange-red fur.

This thing looked like a lycanthrope of some kind, and had its hair done in braids on its scalp as it carried around a big axe that'd fit cosplay rather than an actual weapon.

In spite of this, I didn't bother to assess the situation.

What other conclusion could I draw? It looked strong but dumb. So it stands to reason it was probably slow.

Either way I had to face it inevitably, it was in the way after all.

I rushed in with the daggers knowing that I was outdone in strength as I decided to steal the strategy from the pair I faced from before to take down this goliath.

In spite of my seemingly reckless decision I decided to fight it with my rationality intact. Though my plan was pretty simple, just cut its throat and it should be over with.

Though such as everything in life nothing goes according to plan.

It sensed me before I could deliver a critical strike and tried to counter with a powerful overhead swing, I evaded by rolling and using my momentum to avoid its powerful swing.

Even though It hadn't hit me I could hear the power behind its strike, as the axe whistled past me and struck the concrete like floor behind me and destroying it.

Getting back up I decided a change of plans, I'd cut the fucker to death.

In response it started to swing recklessly as a means to pressure me but this strategy ultimately failed.

For one reason and one reason only.

This thing was too goddamn slow, and especially with my increase of agility and endurance I was able to out last it before it eventually succumbed to its wounds.

By the time it was over it was on its last legs, it took some elbow grease but I was able to behead it after a few rough swings, and then I heard a chime.

"Ding! Gnoll defeated"

"Plunder Activates!"

"Trait [Low-Tier Body Strengthening] acquired!"

And then, I faced another round of torture as I felt my body breaking down and building itself back up though eventually this was over soon enough.

How funny, I suffered more from this than from that creature.

My muscle mass had improved and that was that. I yawned as I took it's axe with me and rolled my eyes knowing I'd repeat the cycle from the floor before.

If there was a god here managing this dungeon I hope he saw me flip him off.

Can't it get more creative?

I stretched and cracked my joints as I decided to repeat the cycle from [Floor 1].
