Chapter 29: The Sombra

Layla shot a deadly glare at Cairo.

“What do you want?” she muttered. “I don’t have time to get kidnapped right now, ok?”

Cairo chuckled as he looked her over.

“What’s got you in such a feisty mood?” he asked.

She sighed loudly and put her hands on her hips. Layla felt moderately safe in the broad daylight with people bustling by on the busy streets. It would make quite a scene if he tried something at this moment.

“Just so you know, I don’t have anything to do with this game between you and Atreus anymore. So you can leave me alone now,” she snapped.

Layla went to get into her car, not wanting to wait for Cairo to speak again.

“Do you really think the little trinket around your neck and that putrid oil will protect you from Ravana or Atreus?”

Layla froze with her hand on the door handle of her car. Taking a deep breath, she turned around and put her hand on her hip.
