Dena bent over the microscope to examine Taurian's blood again. Her stomach tightened at seeing the microscopic organisms mutating Taurian's red blood cells at an alarming rate.
Why, she didn't know. It was different than the sample of Kohl's blood she'd inspected or the alien fragment of the spear. And she wasn't a specialist to know exactly what was in his blood or what it was doing. If she had some of their father's blood, then she could do better comparisons.
"What do you mean, I'm dying? We Renjer live thousands of years."
She straightened her back and glanced over at him as he puffed up his chest.
"I'm not sure." She moved back from the microscope to let him look.
Sucking in a breath, he bent down to peek inside, but he quickly pulled away from it and shoved a hand through his hair in frustration. "Fix me, then," he demanded.
Heal a dragon? She wouldn't even know where to begin.
