Chapter 81: On a Wing and a Prayer

Riley

An hour later, I clung to a sheer cliff on the mountain, trying not to fall to my death when a flutter of wings near me sent panic through me. I turned my head to see what caused the sound, but a blast of vertigo hit me. My foot slipped on a rock and I cried out, digging my fingernails into the mountain. I snapped my head back to the mountain, squeezing my eyes shut as my stomach rolled.

Was it the Angeliminir and they'd come back to attack me, figuring the mountain wasn't doing the job fast enough. Or had something happened to Xaden and they'd come to take their revenge out on me?

Once the world stopped spinning, I opened my eyes again. Above me, a shadow loomed and I looked up to find a male of Xaden's race with dark wings and bronze skin glowering at me.

"Come with us," he said in a no-nonsense voice.

"Where?" I swore if they put me in their prison, I was going to scream, then fight them with every breath I had left.
