Chapter 59: Go Team Zoey

I trailed after Megan and Reed to the football field. Kento stayed at my side with Jasper right behind us on his crutches. My stomach twisted in knots at the group of kids lined up around the blackened grass from where I'd banished the wraith. The wind was eerily still like it was holding its breath. Even the sun darkened as it drifted behind clouds.

There had to be at least twenty of them and more were joining from all across the campus. When they saw me, cheers rang out, and sweat trickled down my back. I felt as though I should answer them, give them some profound knowledge or something, but I had no idea what to say to them.

Why did I think I was good enough to do this? To make them stop this foolishness of joining the dark mages. Or were these the ones that had infiltrated the school and decided to come out now to everyone?

My steps faltered. Kento paused beside me, giving me a quizzical look. "I'm not good enough to do this."

He squeezed my hand. "Yes, you are."
