Chapter 23: Can I Go Sweep the Floors for Your Company?

Sang Qiao's end.

She had finished negotiating with the director of "Whose Youth" and then took a taxi to Director Li's crew.

As soon as she arrived at the company gate, she saw Meng Jiahe sitting alone in the corner on a couch, holding a phone and talking to someone, her face red and neck swollen with anger.

Meng Jiahe had just hung up the phone when she saw the visitor, looking slightly surprised, "Qiaoqiao, what brings you here?"

"I finished up my business and thought I'd come check things out, how's it going with An Chi?" Sang Qiao sat down on the couch next to her and casually mentioned this.

"I still don't know, there are just too many people auditioning, it might even run into the afternoon."

Meng Jiahe said this and could not help but feel a headache, as she had already been sitting here all morning.

"Well, if you have things to do later, you can go ahead. I'm free this afternoon, so I can wait here."

"I'm guessing I really will have to leave later, that half-sister of mine is nearly driving me insane. At first, I let her play around in the entertainment industry as she wanted, but she hasn't been doing a variety show for long before she tells me she's signing with a company. It's some company whose name I can't even spell out without choking, and she doesn't fear it might be some pyramid scheme scam. That idiot is causing a commotion at home, insisting desperately that she wants to sign the contract."

"This definitely requires caution," Sang Qiao nodded seriously.

Sang Qiao knew all too well about nearly being scammed into one of those trash companies calling themselves talent agencies when she was young and naive.

"It's apparently recommended by a friend of hers. If I find out which of her friends is this malicious, I'll give her a couple of slaps to wake her up!"

The more Meng Jiahe talked, the more agitated she got. She was never too affectionate to this sister of hers, and being worried about her now was obviously irritating.

"Friends who drag others down with them deserve a good slapping!" Sang Qiao nodded seriously.

"No, I have to make a call to get her friend's contact details. If that fool runs away from home later, my mother will have to run around at her age because of her." The more Meng Jiahe thought, the more annoyed she became.

She took out her phone and made a call to her sister. It took a long time for the call to be picked up.

"Meng Wangge, give me your friend's phone number and name, I need to check her out, what if she's a scammer?"

Hearing this name, Sang Qiao sitting aside, was like: "?"

Meng Wangge responded from the other end of the line, clearly annoyed, "It's not like that. She was with me on a variety show, and her name is Sang Qiao."

Meng Jiahe was instantly befuddled, and she turned to look at Sang Qiao, "You're the scammer? Ah... no, you know my sister?"

"...I had no idea your sister was Meng Wangge." Sang Qiao's mouth twitched, not expecting such a coincidence.

Sang Qiao had grown up with Sister Ah He, so naturally, she knew about her family situation. However, ever since Sister Ah He's mother remarried, she had stopped visiting her home to avoid causing her inconvenience.

After all, Sister Ah He's life in that home was like living under someone else's roof, and she had moved out when she was still in junior high.

"Come sign the contract tomorrow," Meng Jiahe abruptly said, then hung up the phone.

Rubbing her temples, she sneaked a glance at Sang Qiao and couldn't help laughing, "Hahaha, Sang Qiao."

"Hold it in, no laughing."

"I really didn't expect you to involve my sister. She's so fickle, not at all reliable." Meng Jiahe had little faith in her sister.

"Have her read the contract carefully. Once she signs, she can't just quit on a whim." Sang Qiao arched an eyebrow, not seeing it as a problem at all, given that the contract was clear in black and white.

Once you sign, you can't just leave after working for a day.

"You have a point."

While they were happily chatting, Lu Anchi had finished his audition and came up to them, "Sister Ah He, Sister Sang Qiao, I've finished my audition."

"How did it go?" Sang Qiao looked up to see his forehead hair soaked with sweat.

She opened the zipper of her bag and pulled out a small pack of tissues, handing them over to him. "Wipe yourself."

"Thank you, Sister Qiao," Lu Anchi took them with a shy smile, "Director Li initially told me to wait for a notification without revealing whether I was chosen or not, but since he knows you, he told me ahead of time. I'm set for the role, but switched from the villain to the third male lead."

"Third male lead, huh? That's fine. Although it's not as deeply remembered as a crazy villain, the role still has plenty of scenes."

Meng Jiahe also felt content with this, after all, at first, they couldn't even get an audition opportunity with Director Li.

"Mhm, the male lead in this drama is Sang Emperor, and I heard I'll have lots of scenes with him." As Lu Anchi spoke of this, his face lit up with excitement.

Landing a role in his debut drama opposite Sang Emperor was something he never dared to imagine before.

Hearing this, Sang Qiao still looked calm, "Film it well, I believe in you."

"I will definitely not let down the opportunity Sister Ah He and Sister Qiao have given me."

"Keep it up." Meng Jiahe patted him on the shoulder but ultimately didn't say much. Sang Shen might not be a good brother, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be a good senior.

After leaving the company, Meng Jiahe looked at Sang Qiao, "I've been neglecting you lately. Do you have any plans to take on any scripts?"

"...No, I haven't even finished shooting the variety shows, plus the company is just getting started. I'd rather spend more time on the company," Sang Qiao said, unavoidably recalling the second episode of the love reality show.

It should be about time to shoot it.

"Right, you should focus more on the company. An Chi and Fu Xing are about to join their crews soon, and I need to keep an eye on them and find a couple of suitable agents."

"I was just about to discuss this with you," Sang Qiao gave her a look that suggested they were on the same wavelength.

"We really are in sync. I'll handle the recruitment tomorrow, and you can take Fu Xing to join the crew," said Meng Jiahe with a smile on her lips, feeling sentimental that just a month ago, she was only a low-paid minor agent.

Now, she was the vice president, and just the song from Fu Xing brought huge profits to the company.

Whether Sang Qiao broke even or not, she didn't know, but she had made a profit!

"No problem."

After Sang Qiao got home, she saw Su Nuanying, who rarely came back right after school.

"Cousin."

"Here, the autograph I promised you." Sang Qiao opened her bag, took out an autograph, and handed it to her.

"Thank you, Cousin!" Su Nuanying's hands trembled with excitement when she saw the handwriting that matched the one on the album, and she glanced bashfully at Sang Qiao.

"Didn't you say yesterday that you'd tell me how you know Xingxing?"

"He's one of my company's artists."

"!!! Cousin, is your company hiring? Do you think I can work for you? I can even sweep your floors." Su Nuanying looked at her with dazzled eyes, completely devoid of her initial aloof demeanor.

"What are you talking about; just focus on your studies. You'll have plenty of chances to meet Fu Xing," Sang Qiao curled the corner of her mouth, thinking there was no need to be so crazy about chasing stars.

"Then… next time, can you take me to meet Fu Xing?"

"Of course, provided that you improve yourself."

"I'll listen attentively in class from now on, come straight home after school, and I won't dress like this anymore. Does this count as improving?"

Su Nuanying, clutching the autograph in her hand, felt a sense of unreality, even feeling like her current downcast appearance was utterly undeserving of holding her idol's signature.
