"I've heard that the Sang Family doesn't value their own daughter at all. Could it be that Miss Sang harbors a grudge and intentionally brought this oddity to cause a scene at the birthday banquet?"
"Very possible, considering... I've never heard of any family's daughter sporting green hair, obviously not someone invited but a hooligan."
While Mr. Sang was conversing with others, he was also distracted by the commotion. He looked over and was so angry he almost dropped dead.
How could Sang Qiao bring a green-haired hooligan in? She's throwing the Sang Family's reputation to the wind!
He put down his wine glass and stormed over, "Sang Qiao, I had your mother call you here to join the banquet, not to bring a hooligan to freeload food and drinks!"
"Uncle, who are you calling a hooligan, believe it or not I will..." beat you till your teeth scatter, but Su Nuanying swallowed the rest of her words in time.
She kept reminding herself that she was a lady and shouldn't curse, enduring the moment for the sake of an autograph from her idol.
"She is the Su Family's daughter." Sang Qiao explained calmly.
Hearing this explanation, Mr. Sang's frown deepened even more. If she were just a hooligan, he could have had the security throw her out directly, but since she's the Su Family's daughter, things were complicated.
This outfit was undoubtedly a total embarrassment! No idea how Mr. Su raises his children.
Mr. Sang pinched the bridge of his nose, overwhelmed with headache, "Miss Su, you go play by yourself, I need to talk to Sang Qiao."
Su Nuanying didn't respond but instinctively glanced at Sang Qiao, her eyes filled with a questioning look.
"Go ahead, call me if there's anything." Sang Qiao nodded slightly.
"Alright." Su Nuanying then walked away, leaving space for the two of them.
With hands behind his back and a cold tone, Mr. Sang said, "Grandpa knows about your moving out, when he asks you later, you should know what to say and what not to say."
"Naturally, I understand." Sang Qiao chuckled lowly, never clearer than this moment.
"Go upstairs, your grandpa is waiting for you in the study on the second floor."
"Okay."
Sang Qiao, carrying a small bag, her back straight, walked up to the second floor. The study's door was open, and her three brothers were already standing inside.
She raised her hand to knock, and Mr. Sang Senior's voice boomed, "Come in."
"This is a gift." Sang Qiao placed the small bag on the table, standing beside it with neither humility nor arrogance.
"So, you sever relations with your parents, and you plan to break with me too? Even the gift is treated in such a perfunctory manner?"
Mr. Sang Senior eyed the palm-sized small bag, his face filled with dissatisfaction.
"If you don't like it, I'll take it back. I'll give it to Old Man Li; he will definitely like it," Sang Qiao said as she reached to take back the small bag.
Old Sang's movement was quicker, grabbing the gift and starting to unwrap it, "There's no reason to take back what's given to someone. I must see what you gave that Old Man Li would definitely like."
Upon opening the simple paper bag, it revealed a historical coin, an ancient antique of incredible value, a piece missing from his collection for a long time.
Mr. Sang Senior's look towards Sang Qiao changed suddenly; she had been abroad since that year and he hadn't seen her for nearly five years.
That little girl who used to timidly give gifts and botch them up certainly has changed.
He hummed uncomfortably, "Well, at least it's thoughtful, but shouldn't you explain why you moved away from the Sang Family?"
"Do you really not know?" Sang Qiao threw the question back at him. Although Old Man Li was old, he was shrewd, and such a small matter couldn't have escaped his notice.
However, in Grandpa Li's view, family competition and small quarrels were insignificant, not worth making public; he always stayed out of it.
"This temper has grown over the years, but children of the Sang Family should be like this, not timid and too scared to speak." When Mr. Sang Senior was confronted openly, he was not annoyed but instead laughed heartily.
He then looked at his three sons, "Have you grown so big that your brains have hollowed out? I don't mind pampering an impostor, I don't care if the Sang Family feeds one more person, but make it clear first! Who is the real Miss Sang, your sister!"
"Nobody forced Sang Qiao to move out; it was her making an unreasonable fuss." Sang Siyang still resented the last time Sang Qiao had confronted him.
"Bang!" Mr. Sang Senior slammed the table, "Don't think I don't know how you treated Qiaoqiao for that impostor!"
"Grandpa, there's no need for this formal inquiry, I'm not planning on returning to the Sang Family."
"Playing the good guy suits you, why don't you explain to Grandpa why you moved out, disappointed that pretending to be sick didn't achieve your goal?" Sang Shen couldn't stand her attitude, sarcastically taunting her.
"Not disappointed at all, my goal was achieved. Moving out of that family was my life's desire."
Sang Qiao wore a bright smile, not giving in to him.
"Is that so? Then congratulations." Sang Shen ground his teeth in anger.
"Grandpa, the banquet is about to start, perhaps we should head down first and discuss this matter later," Sang Nanfeng, who had been silent up to now, suggested.
"Fine, we'll go downstairs first," Mr. Sang Senior sighed deeply, thinking that grandchildren have their own blessings and should be left to their own devices.
All five children had their own ideas and were talented, beyond his control.
As they went downstairs, Mr. Sang Senior sat at the family table and waved to Sang Qiao, "Qiaoqiao, come sit next to me."
"Old Man Li, is this your granddaughter? She's quite good-looking and has an exceptional demeanor," noticed Old Man Li, seeing the attractive young girl.
"Yes, what about your granddaughter? It would be good for the children to meet."
"She's probably playing in a corner somewhere, she'll come over soon."
"So, this is Miss Sang of the Sang Family, bold and beautiful. I wonder if she is eligible for marriage?"
"I've heard Miss Sang was overseas, has she come back to inherit the Sang Family?"
Hearing the discussion nearby, nobody seemed to notice her presence, making Sang Jiao quite embarrassed, and Old Man Li showed no intention of introducing her.
Mrs. Sang squeezed her hand to comfort her and then spoke to Old Man Li, "Dad, this is Jiaojiao, also our granddaughter."
As the conversation fell, the atmosphere suddenly grew quiet, Mr. Sang Senior's facial expression soured, "She's just an adopted daughter, no need to emphasize her presence explicitly. Taking up someone else's place should be done with self-awareness, not to show off here, such lack of manners!"
Jiaojiao's face turned pale as the surrounding glares converged on her, making her feel even more embarrassed.
Old Man Li usually didn't acknowledge her, but he wouldn't embarrass her. Now that Sang Qiao was back, he was humiliating her like this.
Thinking about this made her hate the fact that Sang Qiao had come back alive even more. If Sang Qiao had died then, even if Old Man Li did not acknowledge her, he would have to!
