Noah opened his eyes, the early morning light filtering through the curtains. As he lay there, memories of the night before flooded his mind. He had planned to use Sarah to exact his revenge, to make her feel the pain he thought she had caused him and his family. But as he looked at her sleeping form beside him, he couldn't help but feel conflicted.
The passion they had shared was undeniable, and he couldn't deny the feelings that were stirring within him. But he knew he couldn't let himself be swayed by those emotions. He needed to stay focused on his plan, to make Sarah pay for what he believed she had done. With a sigh, Noah quietly slipped out of bed, trying to push aside the mix of emotions swirling inside him.
Noah grabbed his clothes that were scattered on the floor and then reached for his phone. Last night, after Sarah fell asleep, he sent a brief text to Matthew to pick him up as early as seven in the morning.
He quickly dressed himself and later looked around Sarah's room when he finally rested his eyes on a small notepad on her desk. He felt the need to leave a short note for Sarah to keep his plan going. Scribbling quickly, he wrote, "Come to work as usual tomorrow. Have a rest today. - Noah."
Placing the note somewhere visible, Noah once again glanced at Sarah's face. Her innocent and beautiful face now occupied his mind. He closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. Approaching Sarah, he checked her hand and made sure that the burn from yesterday was okay.
Despite his mixed emotions, Noah made his way out of Sarah's apartment, feeling a weight on his shoulders that he couldn't shake off. He took a deep breath of fresh air as he stepped out onto the hallway, steeling himself for what he knew he had to do next.
"Sir," Matthew bowed his head the moment he saw Noah step out of the elevator.
"Drive me home," Noah said, opening the door of the car by himself.
"Yes sir," Matthew took a deep breath and entered the seat beside the driver. "Sir," he glanced slightly and saw Noah was closing his eyes while leaning his head on the seat.
"If it is not urgent or important, tell me later." Noah told Matthew early so he wouldn't ruin his mood early in the morning with trivials things.
"It is important sir," Matthew informed and waited for Noah's green light for him to continue.
"Go on," Noah slowly opened his eyes and raised his head.
"The chairman wants me to inform you that he is going to announce your wedding day to the press as soon as tomorrow," Matthew said, delivering the news he received the night before. He felt relieved to have finally told Noah.
"And when is it?" Noah held his anger inside. He himself had not been informed of the exact date of his marriage. Did he need to learn it from the news?
"Less than a month, sir," Matthew replied. At first, he did not know the date either, but he took the courage to ask and Jacob told him about it.
Noah scoffed. "Less than a month? Are they that desperate to be in law with that family?" He slammed his head back on the seat and closed his eyes in annoyance.
His family business was already at the top in the country, so he couldn't understand what his father wanted to achieve from this marriage. Did he want to strengthen his position in society? Or was there something they offered to him that made him so eager to tie their knot? He still couldn't figure it out.

It was the second day since Sarah had returned to the office, and still no word from Noah. The last thing she had heard from him was the note he left before leaving her house. As the clock struck midday, it was becoming increasingly apparent that Noah was not going to show up at the office again.
Feeling awkward doing nothing, Sarah got up from her seat and approached Leita's desk. "Is there anything I can help you with?" she asked.
Leita pointed at a pile of files on an empty desk and replied, "Can you help me copy all of these files? The director, Mr. Matthew, asked me to copy all of them, but I haven't had time to get around to it. I'm afraid he'll come this evening."
"Will he come this evening?" Sarah's expression brightened, hoping that if Matthew came, Noah might follow.
"I don't know," Leita replied, tilting her head slightly. "He rarely comes, but usually he comes on Fridays." She couldn't give Sarah a confirmation, but it was just how Matthew was.
"Ah, okay." There was a hint of disappointment in Sarah's voice. "Copy them in a USB, right?"
Leita nodded. "Thank you, Sarah." She smiled.
Putting the USB on the photocopy machine, Sarah started to copy one file to another.
"What are you doing?" The voice from behind startled Sarah, causing her to quickly move aside and meet the gaze of the person who had spoken.
Standing behind Sarah was a neatly dressed man with glasses. He wore a light purple shirt and black trousers and appeared to be almost as tall as Noah.
"You must be the new hire, right?" The man smiled charmingly at her, holding out his hand to introduce himself. "I'm Daniel Kim."
"Ah, I am Sarah," she hesitated to shake his hand but eventually did so to avoid appearing rude.
"I know," He smiled again, the smile that could shake the heart of any woman. "Matthew informed me about you, nice to meet you Sarah."
Sarah was confused but trying to not show it on her face.
"It is lunch time, why don't you go out to eat?" Daniel continued the conversation to not make it awkward.
"Is it lunch time already?" Sarah quickly glanced at her watch. Realising it was one in the evening, she slightly gasped.
"It seems like I bought a bit too much food for myself," Daniel held up the paper bag in his hand, showing the food he had purchased for the staff. However, the office was empty when he arrived just now, and only Sarah remained.
Sarah shook her head, refusing Daniel's offer. "It's okay, Mr. Daniel," she noticed the change in Daniel's expression the moment she declined. "It's not because--" She paused, struggling to come up with an excuse.
Daniel chuckled, seeing the nervousness in Sarah's face. "I'm just asking you to help me finish the food. Is that okay?"
Sarah looked at Daniel, who she believed had mixed heritage. "Can you wait for a while? I only have one more file to copy," she said politely, still unsure of Daniel's position in the company.
"Then I will wait for you at the pantry," Daniel excused himself and headed out of the room.
Sarah held her chest, "Who is he?"
