"Outside of our world?" Dante tilted his head in confusion. "I suppose you don't mean the hypotheses about devils and gods…"
"No." Cael shook his head. "There's a real threat out there, bigger even than the war between our countries. It is, in fact, the reason for that war. I call these creatures the Starspawn."
Cael explained to Dante things he explained many times before, without, though, going into the details of how badly Shattered Fourteen's attacks hurt the Kingdom of the Bear.
The more Cael spoke, the deeper became Dante's contemplative frown. Finally, the Transmutation mage thoughtfully rubbed his chin.
"Let me tell you something, Cael. I believe in facts. Facts and calculations. Even things that appear random, in reality, can be distilled to a calculated probability. But the things you spoke about… What is their probability? Just how low is it? Too low for me to contemplate it seriously."
