Cael didn't count how many dragons he had to kill or maim on his way to the capital, but it was more than five and less than fifteen.
Way too many.
An individual dragon wasn't too much of an opponent for him, except for a rare quicksilver dragon, but the lot of them exhausted Cael's stamina and patience. The former could be refilled with dragon blood—the latter couldn't be.
When he finally reached the outskirts of the capital city, he breathed out in relief, because there were much fewer dragons there. But there was the same amount of chaos.
Instead of dragons, the city was attacked by ejderha—that was a fresh development. At any other time, Cael would've intervened, but right now he made a beeline straight to the embassy of the Kingdom of the Bear.
His heart sunk when he saw from the outside the damage done to the building. The doors were blown open, and traces of extinguished flames showed that a battle had happened there not so long ago.
