My Blood Mage System

'Um…' the System sounded sheepish. 'Sense Lies doesn't depend just on physical attributes of a person. It reads their brain wavelengths for signs of uncertainty and duplicity. This allows the talent to work even on non-humanoid creatures, as long as they are physically near. But in this maelstrom… No, it doesn't work. 'System! You didn't tell me!' Cael shouted inwardly, fighting the iciness in his gut.

'You were distracted,' the System justified itself. 'But I would've told you as soon as that became relevant. Like now.'

Cael closed his eyes shut in exasperation, then opened them again to look at the people surrounding him.

Something was there, but that something wasn't a perfect puppeteer, unlike Starspawns. Luna's movements and actions were off.
