Dexter's heart started to beat faster and faster as he glared at the guy.
Connor seemed confused but slowly began to understand that something was wrong. Also, he seemed to recognize the man, but he didn't know from where.
Suddenly, a dark thought ran through Connor's mind and he asked the man hesitant: "You aren't Dexter's ex, are you?"
The man glared at Connor with a smirk and replied: "Oh, no, I'm his lost brother. Who the fuck do I look like to you?!"
Connor frowned and looked with disgust at him, but before saying anything else, Dexter interfered: "What are you doing here, Alan?"
"Isn't it clear? This is a café, so I'm here to drink something."
Connor then replied with arrogance: "Then, let me present you a taste of our new coffee. It's called 'get the fuck out of here'!"
Dexter's ex got mad and wanted to grab Dexter by his sleeve, but he couldn't. Dexter made some steps back while Connor tried to calm Alan down.
In all that agitation, every customer glared at the scene, but no one could even try to help.
Suddenly, Dexter and Connor's boss came and noticed that something was off, so he said "What's going on here? Who are you to cling to my employees like that?"
Everyone turned to him, but no one dare to say a word. It was a big silence until Alan spoke "None of your business, old man. Try seeing off your things, will you?"
"How dare you talk to me like that? Don't you have a bit of respect?"
Connor interrupted: "Now, calm down, boss. There's just lost time if you try talking with him. Man, are you even sober?"
"Sure I am. I'm not an alcoholic."
Dexter mumbled: "Not an alcoholic. Such a joke." Connor wanted to say something, but another customer entered the café.
"Look, if you don't want to talk like normal people, you can just leave" Connor spoke.
"And what the hell is going on here?" a man spoke from behind Alan and everyone turned to him.
It seemed like the customer who just entered the door was no one else than Lynn himself. He took off his sunglasses and glared at the four.
He raised his eyebrow and approached Alan. He took him by his collar and scanned his face.
"I see... you're the piece of shit I met a couple of weeks ago. I thought you were dead, asshole." Lynn noticed.
"Why are you here?" Dexter's voice came from behind Connor. "Yeah, why the fuck are you here, too?" Connor added after Dexter.
Lynn glanced at Connor but then he saw Dexter. He remembered that Alan was Dexter's ex and that he probably came here to terrify him again.
"Be a good boy and get out of here until I don't streak a knife in your throat." Lynn threatened Alan, and he immediately backed away when he saw his cold stare.
Connor's face was all frowned, but it came to a chilled one when he saw Alan running. His mind was full of questions.
"It's good that that bastard left. I hope he will not cause you too much trouble, Dexter." their boss spoke.
"He will not, I'm also here." Connor said proudly and then turned to Lynn. He said very hesitantly "And he too..."
Their boss stepped back while Lynn was still standing in front of the counter waiting for Dexter to ask him again what he was doing there.
"Why did you come?" Dexter asked Lynn.
"Why do you think I came?" he asked unbothered.
"Don't play games with me. I asked why you came. I want your answer. Now." Dexter said with a serious face.
Before Lynn could comment or say something, Connor interfered angrily: "If you're just going to mess up his words then maybe you should leave."
Lynn raised his eyebrow at Connor, but he ignored what he said... this time.
"I didn't ask you, I asked Dexter. And if you don't mind, I'm taking him outside so we could talk" Lynn said completely bothered by Dexy's friend.
"Again? Can't you just talk here? I don't have any problems."
"Well, I do have problems, so stay out of my business and do your job. Dexter, come."
Lynn started walking, but Dexter didn't make any steps. Lynn noticed and said again, screaming "I said, come. I don't want to repeat."
Dexter's ex and his friends stepped on Lynn's last nerves. He was mad, so he immediately lit up a cigarette and waited for Dexter to come outside.
Dexter came hesitant, knowing what Lynn will say, but he asked: "Why did you come? Does your boss want to see me again?"
Lynn took a heavy drag on his cigarette and asked: "Do you have any plans this night?"
"What plans? I don't have anything to do."
"Let's have dinner tonight." he proposed and looked away.
"What?" Dexter asked confused.
"I said, let's have dinner tonight. If you don't have what to do." he answered.
Lynn seemed to be a little bit hesitant about this, but he didn't have any other choice.
Dexter looked at the ground, but he didn't know what to say.
Meanwhile, Lynn continued: "Let's go to a restaurant near here. I'll pay for everything."
This sudden proposal made Dexter think a bit. He didn't understand why would Lynn suddenly invite him to dinner. It was strange.
He finally accepted and they decided the place and hour. Lynn added: "My bodyguard will come to pick you up when you finish your shift."
Dexter nodded and went back inside while Lynn extinguished his cigarette, threw it, and walked away.
The hours slowly passed, no sign of Alan, and Dexter was truly excited to go to a restaurant with Lynn. He felt, for the first time, like they had a peaceful night.
He changed his clothes and said goodbye to Connor and his boss, and then he went outside to wait for Lynn's bodyguard to come to pick him up.
It was quite warm outside for the first days of spring, and at 6 o'clock already the moon could be seen in the sky, shining brightly.
Suddenly, Dexter was stolen by the sky and the stars that he didn't notice the car which was just parked in front of him.
He got up in the back seat and looked outside the window. In less than 5 minutes they already arrived.
Dexter got down, excited to see Lynn, but then he spotted him at the entrance of the restaurant, talking with some other guys.
He was with his back to the street, so Dexter could only see him from the back. "He even got a suit... Seems like he got too ready for this. It almost feels like a date." Dexter thought.
Dexter approached Lynn with a bright expression on his face and said: "Hi Lynn. It seems like-"
He suddenly stopped when the man turned to him. His excited and bright face turned into a scared and mad one.
"You... What are you doing here?! Where is Lynn?! Why are you here instead of him?!" Dexter screamed as long as his lungs could hold him.
