A New Deal

Sebastian pulled Eve with him to the dance floor, his hands wrapping on her waist and bringing her close to him.

Eve felt the heat from his hand move from her back to her cheeks, she had never been this close with a man before. She nervously raised her hands to hold his shoulders as they took the first step to the rhythm of the song.

Though they were both masked, she felt like he was looking into her eyes, boring a deep hole in her soul with his monstrous red eyes. She looked away and glanced at the guests.

They were talking to each other mostly in groups of four or five, but their eyes often lingered on her making her seem like a prey they were eager to attack and devour, she shuddered at the thought.

"You seem tense," Sebastian's said suddenly which made her shiver as she had not expected him to speak.

"Staying in a room full of hungry beasts would make anyone tense, your majesty," Eve replied.

"And that would make them more eager to attack. Every predator likes his prey to be intimidated by him, and when he senses the fear, the chase begun."

Sebastian had a smile as he said this, looking into her eyes to make sure she was listening to him. It was like he was teaching her the secrets of living with the Vampires. And somehow, she relaxed.

"I would surely remember that, your majesty."

Sebastian said nothing and moved his hands away from her waist, he traced his long fingers from her elbow to her wrist and pulled her hand from holding his shoulder. He pushed away gently while holding one of her hand, and she spun before he pulled her back to him. Her back facing his front this time.

"Evelyn," his deep baritone voice called behind her ear, making the hair grow on her skin.

His hand slowly trailed her body to hold her waist igniting a warm feeling in the girl. Eve brown eyes widened behind the veil and she held her breath, the way he called her name and was touching her was making her dizzy.

"We would be living together from now, You should drop the formalities," He said, his warm breath falling on her bare neck.

Eve took a second to respond, "I don't think the Vampires would like a mere human like me calling their King by his name, your majesty."

She felt his hold tightened on her waist and she hitched her breath when he drew her closer.

"You don't have to bother about what they think. You are- my bride," Eve could hear him smile as he said this, "I won't want you getting used to using formalities."

Eve tried to pull his hand from her waist. She was feeling faint from his finger works on her waist and his breath falling on her bare skin as he talked. His hold was gentle but she wasn't able to pull away.

"Especially when we're alone."

It was a soft whisper that sounded too sweet, but caused warning bell to ring in Eve's mind and she gulped.

He saved her from his own assault by pushing her away again, and she twirled around. Her gown spinning with her and she returned back to his arms, facing him as they danced again.

Eve said nothing, and moved along with his graceful steps. When the song ended, he brought up her hands to kiss them.

"It was a pleasure dancing with you, Lady Evelyn."

Eve bowed in response and they both walk away from the dancing floor. She placed a hand to stop him before he would disappear in the crowds. She had something to say to him.

"I would like to say, your majesty, since we are trying to unite the two different kinds. I Would like to propose to be your bride only in the eyes of the outside world. When we are alone, we would be simply be friends," She explained. She didn't want to be anything more than friends with any of the night creatures. She never wanted to be here but proposing a friendship with him would make it possible for her to leave in the future.

Sebastian's red eyes narrowed at her request, she was trying to get away from him. It was clear the human didn't want anything between the both of them and it caused his eyes to darken in rage.

"What are the benefits?"

His voice was cold that reminded Eve of the Vampire in the alley way which made her shiver slightly. She asked,

"Benefits?"

"Hmm.. You are proposing a deal and all deals have benefits," he replied.

She didn't think he would ask for anything in return, as there was nothing she could offer him. He was a King who already owned everything she could possibly give him. Her lips pursed in a thin line.

"My blood?"
