Eve came out of the room wearing a loose lilac gown, her hair was packed up in a ponytail and she walked with Ezra to the dining room.
Her gown swept the floor of the castle as she made her way down the stairs. "Ezra, is his Highness already in the dining room?" She asked, looking at the girl.
"I don't know Milady, he was still in his room when I came to wake you up," Ezra replied, Eve nodded and turned back.
"Good morning Lady Evelyn," She heard his voice behind her and she turned to look at him. Ezra bowed and walked away as Sebastian made his way to Eve.
He stare into her brown eyes which glared slightly before widening in surprise, "Y-your Highness," Eve stuttered.
He was wearing a white shirt that was untucked and black trousers. The first two buttons of his shirt was left unbottoned and his sleeves was rolled all the way to his elbows, revealing his thick veined hands. His hair wasn't combed like yesterday but was left disheveled.
Eve lowered her gaze when he continued to stare her. He swept his gaze across her bare face and the gown she wore and he knew it wasn't the maid who dressed her as they were taught to doll up Ladies in a grandiose style.
"Your Highness, I-" Eve tried to say when he continued to walk and he turned back to look at her. His red eyes were emotionless and cold reminding her of the first time she saw him the dark alley.
"It is good that my bride has a good memory, you don't have to say anything. It's time for breakfast," he said.
Eve bowed her head and followed him, looking at him from the sides of her eyes. His eyes looked ahead of him that was composed. She couldn't believe this same man was the vampire that she had called a murderer. They continued to walk on the carpeted floors until they reached the doors of the dining room, that was pushed open for the King to enter. Eve followed to notice the people seated at the dining table.
They were three people but only two stood up to bow their head, waiting for the King to take his seat. The woman seated at the other end of the table looked older, she wore a small crown on her brown hair and had different jewelry adorning round her neck and hand.
Sebastian took his seat at the table that was carved and decorated in brown wood and he waved his hand for them to sit.
"Good morning, my King," the woman sitting close to him greeted, a smile on her painted lips.
"Good morning, Oriana. A pleasant surprise to see you here," Sebastian said, raising his hands for the maids to start serving his food. Eve spared a glance at him to see one side of his lips pulled up. She muttered a thank you to the maid that served her meal as she took her seat on the other side of Sebastian.
"I wrote to father that we would be returning today," Lady Oriana said turning to look at her father who sat beside her. The Vizier looked at the King who didn't return his gaze before he nodded.
"He did said it yesterday, I thought you would be visiting home to see your family first after such a long time being away," Sebastian commented.
"We passed by the Castle first to drop the Queen and I couldn't leave without greeting the King," the Lady answered, raising her hands to touch the sides of her neck.
Eve glanced at the Lady that had a big smile on her lips as she looked at Sebastian, she had maroon hair that was left to fall all over her back. Her dress was a blue off shouldered gown and Eve noticed the way she pulled the left side of her hair rest over her exposed shoulder.
When she turned to Sebastian, he wasn't looking at the Lady but the Queen sitting opposite to him.
"Welcome back home, stepmother. Hope you had a fun trip?" His eyes glimmered as he asked her.
The woman's red eyes were trained on her stepson as she smiled, her eyes crinkling up at the sides. "Of course I did. I enjoyed my trip because of Oriana, she is a wonderful company."
"You should spare some of your time and have a walk around the castle with her," her eyes darted from Sebastian to Eve as she said this. The woman was aware of the truce and she wasn't comfortable with the thought of having a human beside her son in the Castle.
Oriana had a contented smile on her lips and she turned to look at Sebastian with flushed cheeks like she was shy.
"Why? It isn't the first time she has been to the Castle, I'm sure she knows every corner of this place. I'll be taking Evelyn on a tour instead," Eve wasn't expecting to be pulled into the matter. She had tried to go unnoticed by the people seated.
She looked up from her meal to see Sebastian smiling at her and she subconsciously smiled back. Her eyes shifted to Lady Oriana that was glaring at her to hear the Queen speak.
"You can have someone else take the human round the Castle, I want you to spend some time with Oriana," Eve didn't miss the irritated look on the woman's face as she called her human.
"It's not a problem to have her along with us, Queen Rohesia. She would be a great company," Lady Oriana said, smiling at the Queen. Her eyes shifted back to look at Eve who was still staring at her and she glared at the girl.
Eve didn't say anything as her opinion didn't matter, she continued to eat her meal in silence until Sebastian speak again, drawing her once again to the center of attention.
"Do you want her along with us, Evelyn?" She heard the question that caused silence including stopping the sounds from the cutlery as everyone had stopped eating except Sebastian. Eve's eyes widened and looked up at the woman who was looking back at her with raging eyes.
"She can come along, your highness. The Queen praised her good company, it would be good to have her with us."
She didn't mean to talk so much, but she didn't like the woman who was putting up a facade. It was an indirect way to talk back to her.
