Chapter 11: Moving into the Valley, Hunting Tigers in the Dense Forest

"Something's wrong! Let's go quickly!" Yang Lan'er squinted at Qian Shi, who was leaving in the distance.

Qian Shi had set her sights on Tan Anjun when she was young and had sent a matchmaker to propose to him, but he had never agreed. Later, Tan Anjun married Yang Lan'er, leaving Qian Shi with no choice but to marry Tan Danian from the village. However, Qian Shi harbored a deep hatred towards Yang Lan'er and used to pick fights with her for no reason.

Yang Cunzhi nodded, "Let's hurry back to the valley. Our parents are there, and I'm still worried, so let's not delay."

After entering the deep forest, Yang Lan'er was able to catch a few wild chickens and rabbits.

They finally arrived at the entrance of the cave as the sun was setting.

Frowning at the entrance, Yang Lan'er said, "Second brother, this entrance isn't very safe." She looked around and saw several large stones nearby. "Let's move some of these big stones to block the entrance, so that wild animals won't come in."

Everyone agreed. They put down their belongings and helped to block the entrance. Yang Lan'er jumped down from the stones and clapped her hands, saying, "Now we can rest easy. We'll climb over these stones to enter and exit. Let's go home!"

The three brothers looked fondly at Yang Lan'er, who was bouncing around ahead of them, and shook their heads helplessly.

Back in the valley, Yang Lan'er gave the wild chickens and rabbits to Zhou Shi. She looked around the cave and nodded, "This cave is warm in winter and cool in summer." She found a corner to tidy up her things and sprinkled insect repellent powder around the cave. Until the end of the dry season, they would settle in this place.

That night, they had their first reunion dinner in the cave. The next day, after breakfast, Yang Lan'er's father eagerly took his few sons to the sweet potato field. The little kids cheered and also followed.

Yang Lan'er found a corner, looked around to make sure nobody was around, and then slipped into the space. The sweet potato vines that she threw in yesterday had not been planted yet.

Yang Laner cut all the sweet potato vines, leaving only three or four joints on each vine. After planting them, she only planted one-third of the space. As she looked around the space, she saw that the medicinal herbs she had planted earlier were now growing vigorously.

When she came out of the space, she greeted her mother Yang Lishi. She took her backpack and bow and arrow and then left the cave.

In the deep forest, she found many mushrooms and picked the ones she recognized. Perhaps because no one had ever come to this place, wild medicinal herbs were particularly abundant. Along the way, she discovered more than a dozen Lingzhi mushrooms that had grown for a few years already.

But Yang Laner didn't pick them because they were too young. She also wanted to pick some ginseng, but it wasn't the season for it. Well, she could just plant the ginseng in the space.

While she is walking, Yang Lan'er paid extra attention to ginseng, she carefully dug it and put it into her space whenever she found one. After passing through a dense forest, she came across a large bamboo forest. Walking into the bamboo forest, she discovered many plump bamboo shoots sprouting from the ground, densely packed together.

Excitedly, Yang Lan'er took out a hoe from her space and quickly chopped off the bamboo shoots, piling them up on the ground. She collected the bamboo shoots into her space and continued deeper into the bamboo forest, digging and collecting as she went. Slowly, she not only found bamboo shoots but also bamboo fungus.

Looking at the thick mushroom stems, the round and slightly open mushroom caps, and the delicate net-like skirts, each one looked like a beautiful ballerina. They were just too cute.

Bamboo fungus is a delicious and famous edible mushroom with significant health benefits such as weight loss, cancer prevention, blood pressure reduction, skin whitening, and blackhead removal.

As Yang Lan'er looked at the bamboo fungus, her eyes gleamed as if she had already imagined all the delicious dishes she could make with them, such as stewed chicken with bamboo fungus, cold bamboo fungus salad, and bamboo fungus and mushroom soup. She couldn't wait to try them all.

She took a bamboo basket from her space, put her hoe away, and began picking up the bamboo fungus, filling basket after basket of bamboo fungus and then putting it into her space.

After an hour, Yang Lan'er wiped her sweat and straightened her back. She sighed regretfully, looking at the vast bamboo forest, the bamboo shoots, and the bamboo fungus on the ground, and then at the sky. "The special produce in the mountains is too abundant, and my strength is not enough to collect them all."

Yang Lan'er packed her backpack, retracing her steps back through the dense forest. Just as she entered the dense forest, she heard rustling sounds and the shaking of branches up ahead.

Quickly climbing up a nearby tall tree, she saw a tiger's head emerge from the bushes. The tiger shook its head left and right, seeming to be patrolling its territory.

The roar of the tiger reverberated through the mountains, making Yang Lan'er's heart skip a beat. She quickly bent her bow, aimed at the tiger's throat, and released the arrow the moment it lifted its head. With a "whoosh," the arrow pierced through the tiger's throat.

The tiger lifted its head, its green eyes gazing in Yang Lan'er's direction. A "huh-huh" sound came from its throat until a loud "bang" signaled its fall to the ground.

Yang Lan'er slid down from the tree and slowly walked toward the tiger, giving it a kick to confirm its death. She sighed in relief and collected the tiger into her space.

After leaving the broad-leaved forest and entering the narrow passage, Yang Lan'er took out some of the bamboo shoots, bamboo fungus, and mushrooms from her space, stuffing her backpack full of them.

If you go up the mountain but don't catch a tiger, you're not being filial to your parents. Hahaha!
