Chapter 29: Flattered and Surprised.

"Well, Mom and Dad can rest assured now. There are people to help build the house when we go back," Yang Lan'er nodded in agreement as she flipped the roasted wild chicken in her hand.

Yang Cunyi thought of his two precious niece, who often talked about missing their dad. He continued, "And there's also Bao..."

"Here, have a pancake first. Eat it quickly, we'll talk about anything else when we get back," Yang Lan'er took out a pancake and stuffed it into her fourth brother's mouth.

At the moment, she didn't want Tan Anjun to know about the existence of her precious sons. It was a small punishment for his past actions.

Yang Lan'er slowly ate a pancake while waiting for the wild chicken to roast. After the chicken was ready, she ate two chicken legs and filled her stomach.

After experiencing hunger, she didn't dare to eat too much, afraid of harming her stomach and suffering later. She gave the rest to her fourth brother, but it was unexpectedly snatched by Tan Anjun.

Yang Lan'er and her brother stared at him in surprise. The man, feeling uncomfortable under their intense gaze, cleared his throat and explained with a poker face, "I haven't eaten enough yet."

Yang Lan'er and her brother remained silent.

After everyone finished eating and tidied up, they continued on their journey. Along the way, Yang Lan'er spotted potatoes and Chinese yams, so she had a few men dig them up. With more people in the valley now, they needed to collect more food.

When they reached narrow, they were surprised to see a large tree had been cut down. Yang Sanyi looked proud and said, "See that? My sister and I cut down this entire area. It only took us ten days to cut down over 130 trees." Everyone was shocked.

Tan Anjun looked at his wife walking not far ahead of him with guilt in his heart. He was grateful that he had come back at that time.

As they passed through narrow pass, everyone was amazed. And when they entered the valley, they were once again stunned. They had the same expression as when they first came here. Yang Lan'er couldn't help but stifle a laugh from behind.

The large group of people entering the valley naturally caught the attention of their family. Yang Cunyi couldn't wait any longer and shouted as he ran, "Mom, Dad, Second Brother, Third Brother, Brother-in-law is back!"

A group of people arrived at the entrance of a cave and were surrounded by family members. Tan Anjun quickly walked forward to greet and pay his respects to Yang's parents.

After exchanging some pleasantries, everyone sat down in front of the cave. Yang Lan'er's father asked excitedly about the current situation of his eldest son, and when he learned that he was doing well and had become a captain, he repeatedly exclaimed how good it was.

Upon hearing this, Yang Lan'er's mother choked up and said, "Jun, as long as you all are safe, that's all that matters. Since you left, your father and I haven't had a good night's sleep."

Yang's sister-in-law, Mrs. Zhou, was also in tears by their side. Since her husband had been conscripted, she had been extremely worried. Now that she knew he was doing well, her heart was finally at ease.

Tan Anjun felt helpless seeing Yang's mother so emotional, so he turned to Yang Lan'er next to him for help. Yang Lan'er helped dry her mother's tears and tried to comfort her with a few words.

Then, little Bei'er ran over and patted her grandmother's thigh, frowning with his little sword-like eyebrows and said, "Grandma, don't be sad. If anyone bullies you in the future, Bei'er will stand up for you."

Everyone laughed heartily at his childish words. Yang's mother looked at her grandson's thoughtfulness and couldn't help but laugh and cry. Bei'er didn't understand why everyone was laughing, but he joined in with a big laugh too.

Yang Lan'er was laughing so hard that she bent over, and Su Yongyuan nudged Tan Anjun next to him and jokingly said, "Hey, Jun, how come you didn't tell us you have a son? But your son really looks like you. Were you also as silly and cute as him when you were a kid?"

Tan Anjun was stunned. He looked at Beier, then at Lan'er, and then at everyone else. He had a son?

Yang's father looked at Bei'er, stroking his beard with a smile and said to Tan Anjun, "Anjun, look at your son. He's quite mischievous. Now that you're back, you can take over the responsibility of disciplining him."
