The next morning I wake up to a knock on my bedroom door. I turn over just in time to see Alexander open the door and walk in. Sighing, I turn back over in my bed so I do not have to see his face. I cannot face him quite yet.
"Are you going to go to school today," he ask.
"No, I am not going to go back there either."
"You have to go back to school, your parents will be upset if you do not go."
"No they will not be upset because I have already talked to them about it," I say, easily lying.
"Well, I think you should go to school."
Angered by his words, I jump out of bed and face him.
"I do not care what you think. You do not get to decide anything for me," I yell at him.
I turn around and walk out onto the balcony to put some space between us.
'Why does he think he can tell me what to do?'
I look up to admire the sky looking heavenly with the bright shining sun. I feel Alexander follow my steps to stop right behind me. His hands come up to rest on my shoulders before traveling down my arms to take my hands in his. A shiver runs up my back as I start having trouble breathing. I take my hands from his to turn around and see a smile on his face.
'It is so hard to believe that he is no longer mine to have, yet I still feel this pull toward him.'
I throw my arms out to push him away from me.
"No, you should not be here. Why are you here with me and not with your girlfriend?"
I start to walk back inside, trying to get my thoughts in order. He reaches out and grabs my wrist to pull me back onto the balcony, in his arms.
"I want to stay here with you."
"No, you do not get to have your way all the time. You need to just leave and go to your girlfriend."
I try to push him away again but this time, I fail. His hold is too strong and I am on the verge of giving up.
"What do you want," I whisper.
His arms tighten around my waist.
"I want something that I have wanted since the very first day I arrived here."
"What is that exactly," I ask.
I feel the wall against my back as his lips come upon mine. His lips are very gentle and soft against mine. My arms wrap around his neck to pull him closer.
"Oh, I am very sorry to have disturbed you two, I will come back later."
I immediately let go and untangle myself from Alexander to watch as Charles walks out of my bedroom.
'Wait, what did I just do?'
I walk back inside my room and look at myself in my full body mirror. My hair is a complete mess and I am still in my pajamas. Sitting down on my vanity chair, I start brushing my hair out as I look into the small mirror attached to the back of it.
'What in the world is wrong with me? Alexander has a girlfriend, who happens to be a good friend of mine. Why do I have these feelings for him?'
Alexander comes up to stand behind me and looks into my eyes through my vanity mirror.
"What do you want," I ask.
"Are you going to pretend that did not just happen between us?"
"Well, that is the plan."
"Why though, I know you like me. Why is it so hard for you to share your true feelings to me?"
"Just leave me alone and go see your girlfriend. You know, one of my best friends."
I get up and start to walk to the door leading to my other home. He suddenly grabs my wrist and turns me back toward him.
"No, you do not get to leave until you tell me why you cannot show how you feel toward me."
I yank my wrist out of his grasp.
"I cannot have my dreams become real."
"What are you talking about?"
I turn away from him to look out onto the balcony.
"When I was a little girl, my mother use to tell me stories about how I would meet my prince charming and we would live happily ever after. She would also tell me about another place that was magical and holds many secrets of fairytale creatures," I say smiling.
Thinking about the next part though, I frown.
"Even though I knew they were just bedtime stories, I loved thinking and imaging all the different magical creatures I could meet. I use to go to sleep dreaming about my prince charming too but sooner or later, the dream would change. A couple weeks ago, my parents told me the truth about who I am. They said there is no way I can ignore the truth anymore."
Alexander has walked around and is now standing in front of me. He reaches up to place his hand on my cheek.
"She told you about being a princess?"
"Yeah and I could not face the truth. So I have been staying away as much as I can and telling my friends that my parents are never home. It is also why I was so intent on dating Josh or Damon. It is just too hard for me to face the truth yet. Being a princess and having to get married is huge and I do not know how I feel about all of it."
"Audrey, you do not have to worry about it."
I smile, "you called me Audrey."
He smiles and leans in closer to me.
"Yes I did," he whispers.
His lips connect to mine as my arms wrap around his neck. In the next couple seconds, I find myself up against the wall, not able to breathe at all. He continues to kiss the side of my cheek down to my neck. I am just getting able to breathe again when I remember he is dating Lauren, so I push him away from me. He looks down at me and I can see the wanting still in his eyes.
"Did you forget that you have a girlfriend, one who is actually a good friend of mine?"
He smiles at me, "I was never actually dating her."
"Wait, what do you mean?"
"I asked her to pretend to date me so I could make you jealous. She agreed to help me as long as she could get a kiss from me in return."
'What?!? So all this time, I was mad and jealous for no reason. I convinced myself over and over again that I could not be with Alexander and now I find out that I was wrong the whole time. All this confusion is making my head hurt.'
"Why would you do that?"
Instead of answering me, he just grabs my hand and pulls me into his arms. His kiss is so intense, I feel like I am melting at the slightest touch from him. He pulls away to smile at me.
"Now, do you get why I asked Lauren for help in making you jealous," he whispers.
I nod my head. He places his hand on my neck in a caress as an electric shock runs down my body from his touch.
"You look like you need to lie down. Are you okay?"
I am about to tell him that I am just fine, but he is already picking me up bridal style. He walks over to my bed and lays me down on top of the covers.
"I will be here when you wake up. Go ahead and rest."
The last thing I remember is Alexander's lips on mine before I close my eyes in darkness.
