Chapter 5 Do Not Pretend To Be Strong

Right then...

Her phone rang.

It was still in the pockets of her pants yesterday, It was a bother to reach for it since it was in a heap on the other side of the room. Selena sighed and crawled over to pick it up.

The minute the call was connected, Vivian's blaring voice was heard saying, "Lena dear, I got you a blind date! Attend it, okay?"

Vivian was a small celebrity who was also Selena's best friend. She liked to call Selena 'Lena'.

"Hey, Vivian! Um, what kind of advertisement are you shooting abroad this time? Can you help me get some products?" Selena tried to change the subject, saying, "I need it for the orphanage..."

Vivian interrupted, "I'm shooting an advertisement for sanitary pads."

"......"

Vivian exposed Selena's intentions, insisting, "Quit beating around the bush. You better go to the blind date."

Selena grumbled, "Vivian, I'm only 25. Why are you always acting like my mother and butting into my relationships?"

"If I had a daughter like you, I would have strangled her to death already." Vivian scoffed, "Not only did that b*stard Hamilton cheated on you, he even invited you to his wedding. He probably thinks that you're an easy target! Are you planning on going there alone? Wouldn't that mean you admit you lost to that b*tch?"

Hamilton Lance...

He was her colleague at work.

At the same time, he was her ex-boyfriend after being in a relationship for three years. She had foolishly loved and trusted him, but he secretly had an affair with the dean's daughter, betraying her mercilessly.

"Vivian, I..." Selena really wanted to take revenge on Hamilton too, but vengeance was never that easy.

Vivian sounded like she was in a rush and said, "Lena, I have something to do now. I will ask my assistant to send you the time and place for the blind date later." Perhaps her schedule was tight and she didn't have time to talk.

"I don't care what you think about this man, but you have to get to know him first. You may sound fine now, but don't pretend that you can hide under your quilt and cry just because I am abroad right now."

"Be a good girl and listen to me! It's okay to stay strong in front of others, but don't pretend to be strong in front of me."

After that, she hung up the phone.

Tears welled up in Selena's eyes as she forcibly tried to blink them back.

How did Vivian manage to always see through her?

She might have rejected other blind dates.

However, this was Vivian's way of caring about her, so she wouldn't refuse.

......

Time passed and Selena went on with her life as usual.

Ever since that night, Jefferson had completely disappeared from Selena's life, leaving no trace behind.

It was as if the events from that night and the wounds she saw were nothing but just bad dreams.

Her busy work allowed her no time to think about him anymore.

On the contrary...

Hamilton and Eva, the dean's daughter, were always showing off in front of her.

Selena always chose to focus on her work and never really confronted Eva. At the very least, Eva couldn't do anything to her since her insults were never entertained.

One day, after Selena finished her morning shift, she was about to go home and rest. Just as she was about to take off her white coat, she suddenly received a notice asking her to return to her shift. According to the notice, the hospital had just received an order from the army commanding all available doctors to attend to a group of patients injured from a mission.

These patients were different from ordinary patients. Their injuries were very severe, and the army ordered the hospital to treat them at all costs.
