"Dr. Quartley, what's with your expression?" Sandy nudged her elbow and teased Selena, "Are you too happy because you have been recruited?"


"Sandy, my thesis has been rejected..."


"What?" Sandy could not hide her surprise. "How could it be? Didn't they say that it was going to be approved? How could it be rejected just like that?"


"I, I don't know..." Selena was a little confused, but briskly responded, "I need to figure it out."


Selena called to ask about the reason for the withdrawal, but the person on the phone hesitated and could not figure out the reason. She kept asking if she could change the publication dates of the thesis, but all she got as replies were perfunctory. The person told her it was depending on the arrangements and the quality of the thesis.


She understood such an answer clearly. Someone was tampering with her thesis!


Sandy saw her hanging up the phone and asked in concern, "Selena, what did they say?"
