Volume 1 Chapter 71: Attack of the Two Flying Swords
The three of them played a game of Rock Paper Scissors in a best out of three format to determine who would test the activation range of the two flying swords and the possibility of the two statues coming to life.
Carmilla played against Pepper first and emerged victorious. As a result, Pepper played against Eve, and after a series of five rounds of Rock Paper Scissors, Pepper won while Eve lost.
Pepper appeared to be quite fortunate this time, managing to win against Eve.
Unlike Pepper, Eve didn't react dramatically when she lost, and she began walking towards the hemisphere in a more composed manner.
==================================
While walking, Eve transforms the blood bow she was holding into a sword.
hi
Carmilla, who was at the side, saw that Eve was starting to approach the hemisphere, so she began her preparations to block the flying swords from attacking Eve, who was the test subject this time, by aiming the blood bow in Eve's direction.
Pepper, who saw Carmilla aiming a blood bow in Eve's direction, copied Carmilla and also created a blood bow before aiming.
Eve continued to walk, and her footsteps echoed around the cave.

But the two swords remained dormant; however, this calm moment didn't continue after Eve crossed the halfway point of the room.
The two swords flew up and headed towards Eve.
Eve, who saw this, got into a proper stance, ready to defend herself.
Carmilla and Eve, who were at the back, saw the two swords suddenly activate, so they both started firing at the two flying swords. However, since the distance was too far for them to accurately hit the flying swords, their first, second, and third shots missed.
As the two swords got closer to Eve, Carmilla and Pepper's accuracy improved, with one or two blood arrows nearly hitting the two flying swords.
When the two flying swords were one meter away from Eve, one of the blood arrows hit one of the flying swords.
Resulting in one of the flying swords being sent back, but, like the last time, the blood arrow shattered upon hitting the flying sword.
Since Carmilla and Eve could only manage to hit one of the two flying swords, the other one continued to approach Eve.
But unlike Pepper, who was unprepared to block the flying swords, Eve was ready.
Eve managed to parry the flying sword easily since it was flying in a simple straight line. Unlike the blood arrow that shattered upon contact, the blood sword in Eve's hand didn't break like glass when it collided with the flying sword. She had reinforced it with mana. Even if the blood sword had become dimmer and had tiny cracks not visible to the naked eye, Eve could simply pour some mana into it to fully restore its durability.
Knowing that she could easily cope with the flying swords, Eve started to walk forward slowly.
Seeing Eve start to walk forward, Carmilla and Pepper, who were at the back acting as support, both knew that the further Eve went, the further the two flying swords would also move away. It would become increasingly difficult for them to hit the two flying swords. So, they also began to walk forward, although not as slowly as Eve, who needed to parry the occasional flying sword attack.
As Carmilla and Pepper reached the point where the two flying swords had activated, they noticed that Eve had moved forward only a few steps.
When Carmilla and Pepper reached the halfway point, one of the flying swords that was attacking Eve suddenly ignored her and started flying towards Carmilla and Pepper.
The two were surprised to see that one of the flying swords that had been attacking Eve suddenly ignored her and flew towards the two of them.
Carmilla and Eve hurriedly took a few steps back, and after taking three or more steps, the flying swords that had been approaching them stopped and turned around towards Eve.
Seeing this phenomenon, Pepper suddenly got an idea and took two steps forward to observe that the last flying sword stopped again and flew in her direction. To confirm her suspicion, Pepper took two steps backward, and indeed, the flying sword stopped again and flew towards Eve.
Pepper repeated this several times, causing the flying sword to become confused about whether it should attack Eve or Pepper.
Carmilla was left with nothing to do, as Eve could easily handle one of the two flying swords attacking her, and the other flying sword was too confused to attack either Eve or Pepper.
Eve continued to walk forward. She could take a few steps after sending the flying sword attacking her away, unlike when she needed to be cautious while blocking a single flying sword, fearing a sudden attack from the other flying sword if Carmilla or Pepper didn't manage to hit it.
The scene of Eve repeatedly blocking a flying sword and sending it away happened several times, and Carmilla eventually grew bored and a bit sleepy too.
Carmilla stopped aiming her blood bow and lowered it down, but she didn't dispel it, just in case of a sudden emergency.
*Clank Clank Clank*
*Clank Clank Clank*
*Clank Clank Clank*
One minute later, Carmilla was proven right not to dispel the blood bow, as when Eve crossed 75% of the room.
A sound of several clankings echoed as they collided with each other multiple times.
*Clank Clank Clank*
When Carmilla heard the clanking sound, she instantly knew where it might be coming from, as those clanking sounds couldn't have been made by Eve, Pepper, or the two flying swords hitting each other.
*Clank Clank Clank*
Carmilla hurriedly aimed her blood bow towards the source of the clanking sound, discovering that the two statues were moving toward Eve to intercept her. Without hesitation, Carmilla fired an arrow towards one of the statues.
The arrow accurately hit the moving statue or armored figure, but just like striking a steel wall with a stick, the blood arrow shattered instantly upon contact, leaving no scratch marks or dents on its armor.
