Volume 2 Chapter 7: Information About The Dungeon

[Ding! You have completed the hidden quest [Secrets of the Cave].]

After a brief pause, another panel appeared in front of her, replacing the previous one.

[Ding! You have received a chain quest [Vampire Progenitor's Inheritance 1/?].]

Carmilla, observing the quests that had appeared after Tria's introduction, grew suspicious that a battle might be on the horizon. For now, she chose to disregard the quests and directed her question to Tria.

Carmilla: "Are we going to have to fight?"

Tria responded.

Tria: "No, of course not. Why would you think that?"

================================

Carmilla explained.

Carmilla: "It's just that in situations like these, you typically either defeat the dungeon boss, claim the loot, and conquer the dungeon or get defeated by the dungeon boss and come back when you're more prepared and powerful."

Tria responded.

Tria: "I suppose you have a point there, but this dungeon doesn't follow the typical pattern. It's actually an inheritance dungeon.""

Carmilla inquired.

Carmilla: "Is there a difference, aside from the name?"

Tria explained.

Tria: "The two dungeons are essentially the same in that you still need to conquer them, but they are fundamentally different."

Carmilla asked.

Carmilla: "In what way are they fundamentally different?"

Tria answered.

Tria: "In a normal dungeon, you only need enough strength to defeat every enemy in your way and conquer the dungeon itself. But in an inheritance dungeon, not only do you need enough strength, but you also have to fulfill a requirement set by the creator of the dungeon. In this case, the requirement to enter this dungeon is to have a bloodline of the [Vampire] race. Even if someone has only a meager bloodline purity, they can still enter this dungeon."

Eve: "Can I ask a question?"

Tria: "Sure, go ahead."

Eve: "You said that the requirement to enter this dungeon is to have a [Vampire] bloodline. How is this dungeon not conquered yet? There should be much more powerful vampires out there. How have they not yet managed to conquer this dungeon?"

Tria looked at Eve differently when she heard what Eve had asked before replying.

Tria: "I didn't think that you had a different personality from your friend over there, but it seems I was wrong."

After saying that, Tria pointed at Pepper, who was looking around, especially at the four corners of the room like a child.

Tria: "But to answer your question, there are indeed many vampires who are 100 or even 1,000 times more powerful than you."

Eve: "So how come they didn't completely conquer this dungeon yet, and how did we manage to succeed in conquering this dungeon, even though we are much weaker than the past vampires who explored this dungeon?"

Tria: "It's because this dungeon matches the level and power of the explorers to the enemies it sends towards the vampires who enter. Even though they are much more powerful than the three of you, they will still face enemies at their own level or even stronger. That's why the three of you only face low-level enemies, like yourselves. However, not everyone can do the same as the three of you. Even though some vampires get the lowest difficulty, it still doesn't guarantee success."

Eve: "There should be a lot of other vampires who would try to study and explore the rules of this dungeon, right? So they should probably learn know the rules of this dungeon?"

Tria smiled warily before saying.

Tria: "You are correct; back then, there were indeed many vampires who tried to conquer and study this dungeon. However, lately, there have been only a few vampires challenging this dungeon, and the three of you are the latest ones to explore this dungeon."

Carmilla: "If it's not too rude, may I ask how much time has passed since the last vampire entered this dungeon before the three of us?"

Hearing what Carmilla asked, Tria started to think for a moment. Carmilla, who saw this, was a bit taken aback as she observed Tria contemplating how to answer to her question.

It wasn't just Carmilla who was taken aback, but also Eve and Pepper. In their minds, they were all thinking, 'Is it really that long since someone entered this dungeon that you needed to think for a moment?'.

Tria: "If I'm correct, before the three of you arrive in this dungeon the last vampire to enter this dungeon was about 5,633 days ago."

Hearing Tria's answer, all three of them thought at the same time, 'That long!'.

Carmilla quickly tried to calculate the 5,633 days into years. She's not a genius at mental calculations, but she's adept at basic math. She deduced that it's over a decade, not including leap years since 365 x 10 equals 3650. She estimated that there are still almost 2000+ days remaining. While not exact, she was certain that half of 3650 wouldn't exceed 2000.

Carmilla pieced it together and calculated that it would be around 15 years and a few months since someone had entered Tria's dungeon.

Carmilla quickly thought that, fortunately, this is just a game. In real life, those 15 years would be equivalent to a person's birth and studying through high school in her country which a lot of time for a normal person.

Carmilla was intrigued by the lack of visits to Tria's dungeon, especially considering the valuable [Stat Increasing Potion] she received during her exploration of one of the trials, which was undoubtedly a great reward.

Carmilla: "So when was this dungeon created, and were there really many vampires who attempted to explore it?"

This time, Tria answered instantly, unlike when they previous ask a questions.

Tria: "Not at the start, as after this dungeon was created, there were no visitors for a couple of days. But then, the dungeon suddenly saw a surge in vampire explorers, to the point where I hardly had any time to rest or sleep. However, this period of high exploration didn't last long. After about 30 years, the number of visitors decreased. I still had many vampire visitors, perhaps 10 to 20 a day, but it continued to decline. Eventually, it became just one explorer every year. After several more years, it became one explorer every 10 years. But after seven centuries had passed, explorations of this dungeon, which used to happen every decade, suddenly stopped. It became a matter of chance if someone with the vampire bloodline qualified to explore this dungeon stumbled upon its entrance."
